hucknall byron
Has anyone fitted a new motor to this model? if so any guidance would be much appreciated. From working perfectly a couple of months ago all i get now is a buzz which rises and falls as power is applied and reduced. I am assuming its the motor but could be wrong? Going Spare
Is this the original unit with open twin-worm motor bogie or the more recent version acquired from Lima with an enclosed motor/gearbox?
hucknall byron
Its the 5 pole dcc ready motor.
RAF96
Sounds like the gear train has jammed. Check for a foreign object like a track pin or maybe a broken gear tooth.
hucknall byron
Looking at the service sheet there seems to be a keep plate under the motor bogey ? had a go at taking this off to get access to the motor. No luck with this and dont want to risk breaking any thing. Is there a knack for doing this?
Going Spare
The motor/gearbox housing clips in to the bogie frame by way of two horizontal lugs at the very bottom of each end of the housing locating in to slots in the bogie frame cross-members.

RAF96
Service sheet 323 clearly shows the motor bogie gear case simply clips together. Ease the catches on the top and off comes the side. The twin worm motor drives two intermediate gears that drive the two axles. See picture.
