ColinW
Unfortunately The club's committee have had to take the hard decision to postpone this year's exhibition. We are looking at the possibility of either moving the exhibition to a date later in the year, or holding a smaller event. I will put details up once things have been confirmed. RMweb Gold tetsudofan Posted January 5, 2022 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 5, 2022 Yep, I was also looking forward to catching the train up to Tonbridge. Also disappointing that the Canterbury show scheduled for January 22nd has also been cancelled. Only positive happening was that the Folkestone club managed to put on their show back in October - and that's a show I can walk to. Colin, hope you can put on a show later this year but please try make sure that it is easy to get to from Tonbridge Station. Many thanks, Keith

ColinW
This is a reminder that the exhibition has been postponed on the 19th. Whilst we hope we have given enough notice, unfortunately, the model railway press had gone to print, and as such their diary pages are showing it as going ahead, and we are receiving phone calls about it. We do appreciate that people are disappointed and for their understanding to the club. At the moment, we are looking at doing a smaller event in May, and once we are in a position to confirm details, I will put them on here. ColinW
As much as we would have liked to have re-arranged the exhibition for a date later this year, it just wasn't proving to be practical for us, so we have taken the decision to cancel the actual exhibition for this year. What we have decided to do is to have a club open day, using the Medway Hall in the Angel Centre (the smaller of the two big halls we use for the exhibition) on Saturday 28th May. We are planning on having 6 (possibly 7) layouts on display, both club and members layouts, most(?) of which have been at the exhibitions in the past. Here is a list of the layouts that we are expecting to have on display: Member's Layouts: Hobbs Hill (OO) Southwark Bridge ( N DCC) Strood Dock (O DCC) Club Layouts: Beaminster (OO) Wittenden (O-16.5/O9 dual gauge) Westerham (O depending on how many members we have available?) We are waiting on confirmation of another layout from a member, depending on his health. For those who have been to our exhibitions in the past, they will have seen sections of Beaminster being worked on up in the Riverside Suite (where the catering is normally), but we will be having all the scenic sections up on this day. We will have our club sales stand available, but there won't be any other traders on the day. We are asking a small admission price of Adults £2, and Children under 14 FREE. ColinW
With just over 3 weeks to go until our open day, We can now say that we will have 7 layouts on display, with the 6 previously mentioned being joined by a club member's layout, Hazelby (OO DCC). Westerham will be operated as a DC layout rather than its usual DCC control. Whilst Beaminster will be put up in full, it's likely that we will be doing scenic work on it during the day. We are also happy to say that Rapido Trains will have a display stand on the day, showcasing some of their new products, possibly including items from their TItfield Thunderbolt range. Travel news: For anyone that may be travelling to Tonbridge by train that day, unfortunately Network Rail are working on the junction to the east of Tonbridge station, so replacement bus services from Paddock Wood and Tunbridge Wells will be operating. Refreshments: The club will not be providing Refreshments to the public on the day, however there are plenty of coffee shops on Tonbridge High Street. ColinW
We are now a couple of days away from our open day, so here's some more information: There will be two admission desks on the day, either by the internal entrance to the Medway Hall or the fire exit that leads directly onto Sainsbury's car park. There should be some signage up to direct people. As we have some interest in the day, we will be monitoring the numbers within the hall, and should it become too crowded, then we may cease admissions for a time. We can also say that if people are looking for something to do, either before or after visiting us, there is a Food and Drink Festival taking place in Tonbridge Castle over the weekend. David Hi David, There are several pay and display car parks close to the Angel Centre. The car parks on either side of the Sainsbury's/Angel Centre building are short term, but there are long term car parks just round the corner, about a 5 minute walk. ColinW
We had a good day yesterday, with a good attendance throughout the day. The club is now planning to hold our regular exhibition next year, on Saturday 18th February. I will provide more details later in a new thread.
