Saw him play live several times,  a great performer.

I saw him once in Plymouth,  not long after "Music" charted,  cracking gig. 72, is not much of an age these days.

Me too!  Was it at The Fiesta Suite?  It was packed and VERY loud.  

I think the combination of all the stage PA being set up in a low-ceiling club rather than a big concert hall affected the sound levels.  It had obviously been a struggle to get it all the gear in, and he had to mind his head on the ceiling

Yes, it was the Fiesta club, not really an ideal venue for a concert.
