deltic17
Yes I would buy a centre headcode Class 37 too - I also heard it mentioned that they will do one at some point - the sooner the better!

Silverstreak
Both models are the best reworks I have seen involving the Heljan 37 the replacement parts particularly the Horn grills are quite superb and do wonders for the front of the locos However, dare I say due to a critical ommision by Heljan the one thing the models cry out for are replacement etches for the front cab windows featuring the surrounds to the glazing. Its a pity Shawplan cant do for Heljan what they have done to improve the Bachmann 37 but I guess production costs would not be recouped in sales Bob
Pete Harvey
Bob Changing the window surrounds is not a very good thing to do weather it be 4mm or 7mm as if you look at how the class 37 and class 40 were built the window frame/surround was fitted after a pressed steel roof and sides had been fitted the main construction and fitted underneath the roof pressing so to add an etching on the top would be very wrong and look very out of place. brian daniels
The window rubbers are moulded on the glazing, just need painting.

Pete<<< Hi Pete I see the point your making but any etch were it available should easliy be matched into its surroundings with a bit of filler. I doubt if anyone would notice once painted As Brian states in his reply on this subject the rubber surrounds are part of the glazing and once painted black will suffice but it never looked right on the 4mm Bachmann 37 and looks even worse on a 7mm version. Just my opinion mind you and I appreciate its not a deal breaker for others but it would be for me and thats the main reason for not buying one. Should I come over all "Tractorish" in the future it will be a Waterman one for me Nevertheless its doesn't distract from the superb job you have done on your two examples Kind regards Bob
Paul S; Widnes Road
Hi Pete, As I have recently become the proud owner of one of the Class 37's that you have detailed the construction of in this post, it makes fascinating reading. If your interested the link below shows some of my current garden railway fleet. I'm currently detailing a Class 26 and ordered some parts from you today, so it's good to make the connection with your work. https://www.flickr.com/photos/widnes_road/sets/72157626812765619/ Best Regards, Paul

MiDAS
Hi, Where did you obtain the Cockney Sparrows from. We have a Liverpool Street Pilot minus these little fellows Regards Terry
Pete Harvey
Hi Terry The Sparrow was produced by Precision Decals you are welcome to use one of the pictures from this thread to remind them of what they have done as it was a long while a go. Pete Harvey
For the last three years I have been working away on a little 7mm project for my self and it's nearly done. The Name plates are my own design including the Regimental crests, you can just read the lettering. The livery is a slight compromise as I think that Heljan have the nose grills in the wrong place from what I can tell from looking at reference images they need to go 2mm forward and 2mm up if I had know I would of moved them before I painted the model but i did not notice until after I had painted the model. I made a template for the white window surround before I sprayed the body white, the cut it out from an A4 sheet of a Tamiya masking sheet good value as you get 5 sheets in the one pack. The grey/purple break line is too low. The Fox Decals went on very well and I had no trouble except for the 9000 decals with the gold around them as they stretched very easily. Now I just have to fit the decoder and the sound wire in the led lights I have made for it and and then it's all done. More to follow as I fit the remaining items and get it rolling. F-UnitMad
The mis-placed nose side grille was picked up when the model was released; naturally it shows up more on the two-tone green version - and this livery - than the blue one. Did you cut the window mask in one piece, Pete? That is impressive !!
Pete Harvey
I traced the shape of the white window surround first then transferred the tracing on to the masking sheet twice then cut it out with a pair of scissors, after applying the mask it was left on until I had put the black on. Pete Harvey
Well head codes have been added and the lighting sorted and working as i wanted. No:2 End No:1 End The Head codes are decals and are fitted to the inside of the glazing and are by Railtech They are a bit bright, I will dim them through the CV settings. Pete More 7mm Models to come soon.

Pete Harvey
Thanks Steve The buffers, pipes, Wipers & ploughs are JLTRT mounted on my buffer beam other than the ploughs all the other parts are from the Diesel detailing set from JLTRT the cab front window rubbers are the ones I did for Brian as well as the other parts. BR_Blue_1986
The grid looks great! Are the bogie cradles and chassis etches you've created along with the cab front which I presume is 3D printed? I'm tarting up and old Ex RJH 56 and I have removed the etch grilles above the body sides and replaced them with fine mesh and I have removed the roof side grilled and plane to replace them with scratch build brass parts as they done have the right depth as they are being etched into the body etch. I also have filled two of the grills in rites side of the number 2 end and replace with he later added radiators. Regards
