RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted April 19, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2017 A million views. Pretty impressive, us trainspotters are busy little folk! Oh, by the way, Deltics don't rumble - they sort of thrum. And then hoowwwllllll!
RMweb Premium great northern Posted April 19, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 19, 2017 OK, new policy starting with the next lot of photos. Tonight though we are still on the last lot, with a couple more shots of the B1 arriving from Doncaster. And now, having taken four and three quarter hours to crawl round a very nice golf course behind four *******, I shall go to bed, muttering.

LSWRlinesider
Hi Gilbert, Apologies if all in the know, but FS due through platform 4 Peterborough this morning 10:32. (The 12" to the foot one) All best, Matt http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U53516/2017/04/20/advanced

RMweb Premium great northern Posted April 20, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 20, 2017 Looks like a Kadee spring to me. Yes, it is, but now I have to find out where it came from. I suppose I'll do that by finding what won't couple next time I try.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted April 20, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 20, 2017 (edited) It is just before 1000am, and excited day trippers are at Platform 6, correctly described as the excursion platform, for once, to catch their day trip to Skegness. I can see the weather forecast now. Showers or longer spells of rain, wind North East 20mph, max temperature 54 degrees. Fahrenheit of course, this is 1958, none of this celcius rubbish. New England, in dire straits as usual, have borrowed an engine from nearby March. No problem, as the fruit and sugar beet season hasn't really started yet. The North end pilot has had a little trip down to Nene sidings, and now brings in the stock for a Grimsby local. Liam
I've never been to Skegness, but at about 12 degrees I'm not sure I'd want to! Reminds me of a time I was on a Devon and Cornwall Rover ticket. It was July, but a little unseasonably cool. To tick it off, I went on the St Ives branch, formed of a 2 car DMU. On the way there were about 20 people on the train - coming back to St Erth it was like 200! Not a pleasant experience!

RMweb Premium great northern Posted April 20, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 20, 2017 Owing to a persistent outbreak of golfing, I'm nearly out of photos. I have a day off tomorrow though, so if gardening allows, I shall take some more. All we have tonight is another shot of the C12 with its empty stock, now safely installed in number 4 bay. I like this view.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted April 21, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 21, 2017 The bottom of the barrel has been scraped, and the final picture removed, allowing one last view of the C12 before it moves off to allow the train locomotive to back on. Now I notice the state of both rear lamps. More later I hope, though I have a flower bed with no flowers, and even I realise that this is the time of year to do something about that.
Liam
Oh dear. Perhaps the fireman has been drinking. There'll probably be a red-faced foreman when he gets to his home shed - it might not have been a good idea to photograph it Gilbert!

Had I noticed at the time Liam, I would have done something about it, but my eyes aren't good at present, so I keep missing this sort of thing. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted April 21, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 21, 2017 A very unusual day. One during which I achieved all I had planned to do and more. All plants purchased and bedded in, and then wellies on, and pond cleaned out. Great clumps of spearwort torn out and binned. Most fulfilling. And after that, I ran some trains, and took some photos. Not like me at all. Here is the loco which replaced the C12 at the front of the Grimsby local. Yet another local B1, but in even worse external condition than those seen recently. and as the B1 sat and waited, another WD crept under Crescent Bridge with a Class F from Ferme Park.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted April 22, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 22, 2017 It is a lovely day, and there are little white balls to be pursued, and perhaps even to be watched diving gracefully into ponds. Before first trying to unravel my back, which didn't like either the insertion of plants or the removal of pond weed, and then going in pursuit of said golf balls, here are some more pictures. A rear three quarter view of 61073 shows that even Mr Thompson could get some things to look graceful. though of course the heritage of the loco goes all the way back to Ivatt. Then we have the first of the promised "not a loco in sight" shots. This is the formation behind that WD, minerals as usual at the front, with some empty bogie bolsters tacked on behind. And it is quite a nice view really, though it would be better if I could extend the bridge further to the left. Unfortunately, there is a wall in the way.
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted April 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2017 Great pics again Gilbert. We are indeed fortunate to be able to share this with you - it's so much better than a few pics in the monthlies, and we get to see much much more, including the layout in its environment. Keep up the good work for us, please. Regards Stewart

RMweb Premium TrevorP1 Posted April 22, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted April 22, 2017 Hope you don't mind Gilbert. Smashing shot of that B1 but I couldn't resist a little play. Colour and grainy black and white.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted April 22, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted April 22, 2017 Today's bad thing, nasty sneaky little white things that kept hiding, so succesfully that on three occasions they could not be found at all. Today's very good thing. Lincoln City FC are National league champions, and back in the Football league where they belong. Tonight's pictures, GN cab 02 on an Up coal. another dodgy lamp, and too much light.

Otherwise that B1 is going nowhere (except into the four foot). Chaz
RMweb Premium great northern Posted April 23, 2017 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted April 23, 2017 Whenever the camera sees certain types of loco, it whispers to me, "we must have a close up of that". It is rarely wrong. And then attention turns to the South, as the White Rose is due. 60059 Tracery in charge. One of the best A3s, it would seem, as it had the highest lifetime mileage. Is that why it was one of the first to get a double kylchap, when only in works for a casual repair? I can't find any other instance of the double chimney being fitted other than at a general overhaul.

Liam
No he means golf balls. Ah, gotcha. I'm partial to a bit of golf as well, but not competitive. Somewhere in one of my many cupboards I have some brightly coloured golf balls - orange, yellow and perhaps also pink!
