RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 30, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 30, 2019 Just seven hours of meetings in total today, but bearable as the eventual outcome was very positive. I am beginning to count down to next January though, as one can have too much of a good thing. What good things do we have tonight? We have a close up of Diamond Jubilee just a few yards before its stop. and a few minutes later the stock for the 3.00pm Grimsby is brought in by D11 Marne. By now she was a Darnall engine, so I'm not sure what she is doing on an Immingham duty, but at least she was the last Director to leave immingham only a couple of years ago, and at the height of the summer season anything that can turn a wheel may be pressed into service. 29
RMweb Gold ikks Posted May 31, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 31, 2019 Gilbert.............You really had me fooled!! I thought I was looking at a photo of the real thing( seriously). Bloody great modelling. Mike 1 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 31, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 31, 2019 A gentle and quiet day in store, I hope. No trains ran yesterday afternoon, as I fell asleep instead, but I shall do more today. Views from towards the end of Platform 3 this morning. Marne is simmering away, and has a while to wait before the off. While she waits, another WD plods through towards Ferme Park.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 31, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 31, 2019 So today I did get a chance to play with some trains, the first of which was a KX Goods to Doncaster ECS, which brings another V2. There have been quite a lot of them lately. One of the few I present as the camera saw them. I don't need much excuse to avoid photoshopping the whole of the bridge. The second one surprised me. I was in idle mode again, and cropped it much more severely than I would normally do, but it actually came out well, and quite similar to some of the prototype views of this area. The only irritant is that time and time again a background building is at exactly the same height as the chimney of the locomotive. But then if I moved the loco to avoid that, there is a good chance I'd get something growing out of the chimney, which would be worse. 32

A. G. Pro. I had one of those Phil, but I now have a wristwatch which performs the same functions, like telling me how far I have to hit a shot in order to land in a pond. However, being a pooter type of thing, it has a mind of its own, so when I really do need to get a distance to something, I find that option is temporarily unavailable. 2
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 1, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 1, 2019 A last look at the V2, which has quite a long wait before it can go any further. Then I'm afraid we encounter an over excitable photographer. Having heard a distinctive chime whistle, and knowing the Elizabethan is due, we see the result of premature shutter pressing. 24 1

The over excited photographer. I remember me well. Once got a lovely shot of 60103 in the sixties between North and east stations before it went under the bridge into East Station. Unfortunately I had not noticed the telegraph pole growing out of the chimney. Lloyd
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 1, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 1, 2019 The Elizabethan will of course attract a lot of attention, even though it isn't the Haymarket engine this afternoon. It is seen again lurching across the formation on the approach to the platforms. Not a very successful attempt, that. The next one is rather more acceptable. 26 1

I agree the rainstrip is the difficult part. The destination brackets are OK on plastic roofs like this where I can use liquid cement, but on MJT metal roofs I still find them a real pain. Are these kitchen car battery/ fridgidaire boxes available commercially? RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 2, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 2, 2019 A last look at the Elizabethan, as 60013 picks up speed on the last lap of its journey. The soind of its exhaust has hardly faded when local A2/3 60514 appears with the 1.45pm FO Newcastle. Pictures of the formation of this train may be available later. This was another one that told me it should be presented in black and white, and I think it was right.

The box has the fridge mechanism in it, if I've understood,. it isn't a fridge in itself.

Yup, it has sort of vents rather than doors. P
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 2, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 2, 2019 60514 is now waiting for the off at Platform 3. But as the carriages passed on their way in, one of our men recorded the complete formation. Lots of lovely Gresleys!
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 3, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 3, 2019 The early afternoon arrival from Grimsby was extended to KX on Fridays, but still only consisted of a five set with a BZ and a BG at the front, so I'm assuming the Immingham B1 continued on to London. The pictures are poor, but demonstrate what happens when the sun pops out during the four second delay I have put on to avoid any camera shake.
Phil147
Amazing photos yet again!! If you really think these are poor then it shows the very high standards you are producing. It was only when I looked at the second photo that I realised you hadn't photoshopped the background on the first one!! These wonderful photos continue to showcase a truly exceptional layout and the expertise from all involved (including you too Gilbert!!). 4
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 4, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2019 Jolly good, we're back, so here are last night's photos, which feature locos in bays. The movement of trolleys has allowed a clearer view of number 1 bay, where 62613 is waiting to take the shuttle down to East. 60002 on the other hand will have plenty to do, as it waits to take the 2.00pm Newcastle all the way back home. English Golf Captains Regional qualifying for the Seniors Trophy this afternoon. Heavy rain is forecast.
RMweb Premium 45156 Posted June 4, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 4, 2019 Gilbert that first image is very very good indeed. My missus just couldn't believe that it was a model. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 4, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 4, 2019 Heavy rain was correctly forecast. It wasn't very nice. At PN though it is fine, as usual, and another load of empties is brought under the bridge by a nearly new 9F. The 9F is closely followed by Silver Fox on the 2.00pm Newcastle. One hopes that 60017 has not been held up on the double track section through Yaxley and onwards.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 5, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 5, 2019 A meeting at 0900.It's about soil, so should be very exciting. Quick photos. Lovely D16 on the way out. and blue roary thing on the way in with its normal afternoon duty. Only eight on, so hardly a testing job. You may see more close ups in future, as I've realised how useful they are when I don't fancy photoshopping something in the wider view.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 5, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 5, 2019 Today has seen a major technological breakthrough. I have managed to watch on BBC I Player a programme I missed yesterday. It was a bit of a fluke though. In other news, Deltic is seen from another angle. and just after it got out of the way, 60002 set off for Newcastle. 31
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 6, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 6, 2019 Deltic having a rest, while Huddersfield Town arrives with the Ely-Birmingham. followed by another angle on the same view.
Martin S-C
I hope you don't mind, Gilbert, if I remark that the Deltic needs some gubbins on its buffer beam. I think one of the attractions of the front ends of diesels is the crazy mass of spaghetti they wear "below the belt".

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted June 6, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted June 6, 2019 Today has been unremittingly awful, which means tomorrow can only get better. We have a head on shot of the B17. and the return journey of that filthy A2/3, on its way back to its home city, though some of its train will be detached at Doncaster and go on to Hull. One thing is certain, Keith Pirt didn't take this photo. He wouldn't have wasted film on something in this state. 24
