RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 28, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 28, 2019 Time for the Tees-Tyne Pullman, and it hasn't taken Top Shed long to realise that a double chimney A3 is more than capable of handling such a prestige job. Tracery really isn't clean enough though. An A4 failure, perhaps? The clouds are building, but I hope it isn't getting too stormy. There follows are rather cluttered view, but at least we know where we are.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 29, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2019 Today, I am hoping to be crowned. I shall not expect any special treatment or honorifics though. Here is our lovely little J15 bringing another shuttle service from East into Platform 6. At the other end of the same platform, 61023 waits with the lightweight 6.10pm to Grantham. I've just realised that this emergency dental appointment takes place precisely one year after my last visit, also an emergency one. You could get good odds against that happening, I reckon. 16

Good Lord no. 4

One has to be careful Ian. There were always at least one or two in works at any given time, so that has to be taken into account. Arguably, I should have all the KX ones, but some of the Haymarket engines were hardly ever seen down our way. 1
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 29, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2019 Well, that was nice! Apparently most of the work the dentist did last time was still intact, so it was just a relatively short repair job, and painless, which is good. Soup and soft rolls only for the rest of today though. Before I went, I intended to run some trains, but I couldn't motivate myself to do that, so I just wandered around putting the camera down and seeing what might happen. Before I knew it, I'd taken 33 images. Some were really rather silly things to try, including the two below. Mind you , pointing the camera in this direction in the afternoon at PN itself would be asking for trouble, so I claim some justification. Not a lot though. Venture the other side of Spital Bridge, point the camera into the sun, and this is the result. 28
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 29, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 29, 2019 Another trip working tonight. There were a lot of those, even after some of the yards were closed down in the mid 50s. Then a couple of camera plonking efforts. A very dark one... and a slightly brighter outlook.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 30, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 30, 2019 More sun today, so more trains will run. There is every chance that at least one WD will feature, as this one did a day or two ago. If we move a bit further along, we can give a double slip a starring role.

Shows how quickly Clive could send the boys round if you really upset him though. It must be a very small gents then . The gents in the Blind Beggar in Whitechapel was small but the reason there were no witnesses when Reggie Kray shot George Cornell was because over 40 punters had all gone to the gents at the same time. Amazing how they all got in at the same time and shut the door . So they all saw and heard nuffink. Well, that’s what they told the Police anyway Love the J50 , by the way. One of my favourite classes. Edited October 30, 2019 by jazzer 3

King Gilbert That double slip looks excellent. Must have been a nightmare working out the geometry. Congratulations. It just shows that not only is it an excellent model overall, but there is such fine detail to be found all over it. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 30, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 30, 2019 Another WD portrait, but it looks quite fetching in this one. Everything I took that day has a brown cast to it. I've no idea why that is. Then a bit more still life.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 31, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 31, 2019 Potentially a very "interesting" day at the golf club coming up, but I must take things as they come, if they do at all. Hopefully, it will all blow over. All is calm and tranquil at PN, as 61023 sets off for Grantham. Then a look at North box, and its surroundings. 30
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 31, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 31, 2019 How about a view from on top of the old engine shed roof? and for those who like to see a locomotive, here is the J15 again.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 1, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 1, 2019 Time for another WD, on the Down slow as usual, and almost inevitably with coal empties. The only slightly novel thing is that these started from New Southgate. Another forecourt view, but from ground level this time. That wierd looking man has to go. He came from Tetley's Mills, but even so he will be sent to stand somewhere far less conspicuous. 28

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted November 1, 2019 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted November 1, 2019 Another day nearly gone, and no golf club drama again. I could start to like this. Anyway, only three more months to do. I didn't feel like running trains today, I think I must have caught it off Clive, but we have plenty in store. The 4.40pm Doncaster - KX was next on the sequence, at which point it ceased to be Friday, and became another weekday. Why? Because on Fridays this train contained eight TSOs, and I don't have that many, whereas on other days it loaded only to six, which is easy. That means Sun Castle's fireman should be having a nice easy shift. I had to rescue this image from the recycle bin. How it got in there, I do not know. A strange formation this, only six cars, but two are CKs, and a third an FK. Why such a high proportion of first class seating, I wonder? Next, we shall stand at the end of Station Approach, and well er..... look at the station.

I didn't last night as I was at the model railway club, but I did have an afternoon session yesterday which was most enjoyable. Not too sure if I will tomorrow but I am off to the Spalding Show for inspiration.
