jwealleans
Go easy on it, Derek, it's been to Hull and back..... Quote ...about 250 coaches needed... I have a proportion of those I prepared earlier. I'm afraid one C1 is never going to move that many coaches, though. 2

They would all need something to pull, wouldn't they?

What's fifteen minutes between friends? M'lud my learned friend conveniently forgets the approximate 60 miles which seems far more relevant than 15 minutes. I do accept M'lud he has a major financial purchase on his mind. Well 250 to be precise.

Bloodnok
For a 2-8-0, I'm going to have to give it to Stanier with his 8F, but an honorable mention does need to go to the S-160.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 11, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 11, 2020 Late evening photo time again. It is now 7.55pm, and another local from Grimsby is running in. There is a definite shortage of B1s at present, so Immingham have turned out Marne for this duty. Next we have the arrival of the 6,35 KX-Hull. This occurs only eleven minutes after the arrival of the 6.20 Leeds, also hauled by a Grantham A3, so there is every excuse for someone to have got slightly confused a bit earlier, isn't there? Well, there is, so there.
RMweb Premium New Haven Neil Posted May 11, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 11, 2020 Hmm, Counsel for the Defence.....the question was actually: The most attractive and graceful 2.8.0. folks. Not ugliest, biggest or oldest.... Therefore, the 8F. 04 is close though.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 12, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 12, 2020 Good morning all. Lovely and sunny here, but cloud forecast to roll in later, so I must get on if I am to take any photos. This morning we have another look at the two engines that featured last night, both now stationary. Marne is at journey's end, but will have to take the stock down to the sidings before going off to New England. A3 Persimmon has further to go, at least as far as Grantham, and maybe to Doncaster with the 6.35 Hull. It's easy to see this is the 6.35, as because it is a much shorter train it stops further back than most expresses. Now I shall count the votes on the 2.8.0 poll. 26
RMweb Premium great northern Posted May 12, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 12, 2020 We have a tie. 02/2 and 8F both received 7 votes. WD in third, and 28xx and 47xx honourable mentions. Today, let's consider 0.6.2 tank engines. Quite a few to choose from.
stewartingram
N7 it has to be - GE after all! N2 has a purposeful look too but not as graceful, just hefty. Stewart

RMweb Premium thegreenhowards Posted May 12, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 12, 2020 I love the N1/N2, but they’re more mean and purposeful than graceful. I’ll go for an ex NER N8 - a classic Victorian old lady. It was nice to have an excuse to get this model out. I built it as a kid, but it rarely sees the light of day now that I model the GN area. The Southern E4 would run it a close second. Andy
Woodcock29
I've always liked the N7s and the N5s but the N1 is my choice for this competition. I'll be building one shortly - I seem to have a GN bug currently! Andrew

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 12, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 12, 2020 Sun in and out today, but seems now to have decided to stay in. I've nearly finished the sequence, and the next one will be much slower, as I gradually review and alter the powerpoint slides. It may be that I shall run random trains for a while, in which case requests and suggestions could be in order. I'll see how things progress. Train with tea this morning is coal again, and features an 02/4, a sub class not mentioned in the recent poll.
