I remember working on a SRPS railtour train to Fraserburgh in the late seventies. Almost the last train to traverse the branch. The train included a BR LFK, one of only three. The compartments had been opened up and fitted with individual swivel chairs.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 17, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 17, 2020 Hair cut, back treated, so all should be well for a while. Still not getting on with anything though, apart from on here. Last picture from a running session five days ago shows the A1 about to pass the B1 and go under the roof. The PC chose to mix up the sequence here. Then we move on a few minutes, the B1 has moved off to the carriage sidings, and the road is clear for 60050 to pass through with the Heart of Midlothian. Some zoom shows that I need to make a less clunky support for that fogman's hut. On present form, don't hold your breath. 28

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 18, 2020 Two more looks at the Heart of Midlothian as it heads on non stop towards London. I'm not convinced by that headboard. I think it should have a dark blue or black background, and to me a it looks a bit too big. Replacement needed? We do have a pretty sharp zoom shot though.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted July 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2020 This poll was a bit far North for some, it seems, as it attracted far less votes. Score draw 2-2 Aberfeldy and Banff. Closer to home for most today, Midland region and predecessors. Bucolic BLTs there? Should be plenty to choose from. RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted July 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2020 Not especially bucolic but I'll nominate Blaenau Festiniog North.

FarrMan
Midland bucolic terminus. About all the Midland Region I remember were through stations, so makes it difficult. Never seen either of them in the flesh, but I thought about Uppingham, then decided on Lakeside. From what I have seen a grand building with a minimal local population. Or does that class more as a Ferry Port? Lloyd

RMweb Premium Metropolitan H Posted July 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2020 Newport Pagnell. I never saw it till after lifting, but the station was across from where the Dentist is now and I regularly walk alont part of the track-bed - now a footpath / cycle way. RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted July 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 18, 2020 (edited) Gilbert you say Midland Region, wow that is a big area for me to pick from. I think I will look close to where I grew up. There is Rusden, Newport Pagnell, Dunstable (like Braintree built for through working but worked as two termini), and St Albans Abbey to consider. Of course there is one I missed out of that list and that is Northampton St Johns Street. Yet another example of a lovely looking Midland terminus. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 18, 2020 (edited) Time to get ready for golf, so one more image to keep things going. Sir Archibald has been going on and on, wanting to see his new toy run, so in the end it was put on the next shuttle service to keep him quiet. Having succesfully covered that mile, he will now want it put on a proper train, no doubt. It will certainly get toned down a bit by Tim in due course, even if Sir A insists it is kept in pristine condition. mullie
Midland region and predecessors - Tilbury Riverside on the Thames. Built by the LTSR which was taken over by the Midland in 1912. Sadly the station is no longer there though the buildings still are. Martyn

I suppose it is as the track branched off the mainline.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 18, 2020 A day on which I found myself unable to concentrate on anything. This does not help when trying to play golf, or indeed with many other things, and the results were predictably bad. Three new golf balls lost, for a start. Another A3 tonight, the train being the 6.20 Leeds. Tomorrow there will be a look at the formation, but today I've had enough of messing things up, so enough is enough. Apart from anything else, I can't remember why I thought the formation was worth photographing. Better luck after some sleep, I hope. 21

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted July 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted July 19, 2020 Much refreshed this morning, so far at least. Here is the formation of that 6.20 West Riding express, which had portions for Halifax and Hull, and featured an FO RF RSP catering portion, which wasn't used very often. Four brakes in here too, two BCK and two BSO, the kind of formation that used to guarantee that this train didn't appear on PN. A shot from on high shows that the loco is well off the platform end with 12 on.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted July 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted July 19, 2020 It seems that if you can't be beside the seaside, your next choice is Lakeside. 3 votes wins. We are now getting closer to home, and today's subject is country branch line termini on the North East region. Not neccessarily bucolic this time, though there were a few.
