RMweb Gold Market65 Posted October 18, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 18, 2020 It also has to be the delightful Border Counties Railway for me too in this poll. Such an exquisite railway, such a shame it no longer exists. Rob.
mullie
I will go with Scotsgap, partly because I've always liked the look of Rothbury. Martyn

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 18, 2020 A few more images captured today, but in dodgy light. We have another 9F hauled load of coal for London. and a look at a footbridge tower.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 19, 2020 Good morning. Quite bright here, so things may get done in a while. Another look at the 9F first, this time in black and white. and then another look at the tower, but from a different angle.
RMweb Premium great northern Posted October 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted October 19, 2020 And so to the poll. A 4-4 draw, Border Counties Railway and Scotsgap. I think it is time to give this a rest. It served a useful purpose during a difficult period for us all, but I'm struggling to think up new subjects, and there is generally rather less interest. Any ideas as to what else we could discuss are welcome, but for now, we are a poll free zone. 2 3
David Bell
I think we can come back to it after some time off. I dont know about you chaps but I have learnt a lot about railways I did not know. The only problem i have now is i have about 20 new projects running around my head. Thanks to Gilbert for taking the time to have the polls. Cheers David 5

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 19, 2020 More developments with Hunt couplings. Some of my more treasured and expensive kit built coaches have a kind of coupling which none of the current Hunt versions will take. I identified them as having a particular type of Bachmann bogie, and seven days ago, I sent details to West Hill wagon works, and asked if they had any plans to do these. Today, they are available, I have ordered some, and should have them this week. These people really are impressive. It is a really simple fix too, one which even I am confident of coping with, which is great when I have £300 worth of coach on my workbench. Tonight's picture is a close up of an 02/2 with a mixed freight from KX Goods. and there is a high level plonk looking along the excursion platform.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 20, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 20, 2020 Oh dear, back to getting up in darkness. The penalty of early golf. This morning it is plonks again, as I forgot to photoshop the ones with locos. I do like the complexity of the roof lines, but I wish the hotel didn't have to be cut off as it is.

RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 20, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 20, 2020 Another look at the Tango tonight. Floowed by the rare sight of a tank engine at PN, other than the pilots. This is a Midland service to Leicester, and will depart at 5.36pm. 31
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 21, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 21, 2020 95% chance of heavy rain from now until 5.00pm. No out door pursuits, and no photography either. A glance through the palatial main entrance this morning, with a DMU just arrived from Skegness making a new kind of noise under the canopy. On the Down side a Welwyn Garden City to Colwick Class D passes through, KX having found a use for one of the Standard fives which will shortly be passed on to Neasden.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted October 21, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted October 21, 2020 In the absence of polls, back to tea break images, this one having at least most of a loco to look at. Actually, this just show that the forced perspective looking across to the East has worked quite well. Even better when I get round to getting rid of gaps under buildings though. I wonder if the same could possibly be done down the other end?

CUTLER2579
In fairness to you Gilbert she did go to Neasden from 41A then Derby, back to Neasden and then Cricklewood East , Bedford, back to Cricklewood East before departing North to Patricroft from where she was withdrawn in October 1967. A total life in BR service of a little less than 11 years.

It seems the Southern were quite happy to take them according to Clive Groome’s book based on his diary as a Nine Elms driver . He says they were more suited to the regular stops of the Waterloo-Basingstoke/Southampton Semi -fasts than a Bulleid Pacific. However the Class 5s on the Southern were taking over jobs from the old S15’s which is a bit different to taking over a V2 job!
