Another Friday only train, the 6.10 KX- Leeds, with A1 Bois Roussel coming under Crescent Bridge.

 

 

and another plonk, featuring the poor guy who still doesn't know what to do with his parcel.

I like the bottom photo with the van. Very effective. I genuinely did a double take, thinking it was the real thing.

There are a selection of carriages below on the approaches to the East station as the train passes over the viaduct.  There are also scenes at Hitchin, Woodwalton, Helpston, Lolham. Thank you for that, Paul.  We watched it through last Friday and I hadn't had chance to go back to it since.  We thought that sequence was moving south from Peterborough, but I wouldn't have spotted the smaller stations.  Hitchin and Welwyn were easy enough and we think the NER 4-4-0 and clerestories may be at Selby. 

 

I have my work cut out identifying all the horseboxes in that one train although there are a fair few GN examples and what we think is a GE right at the rear.

 

Weeks of watching and researching to come.

I agree the sequence of scenes is out of order, but I suspect the on train sections have been played in reverse. The views seem to be from the back of a train. There is one section where the train enters a small station on the wrong line in the wrong direction. The signals on the adjacent line reinforce my thoughts.

I've had another look at it, and I'm still not sure what is going on. The PN bit cuts out just as the train is approaching points, but they seem to be set for the route down to East. The film then carries on down the main line though. Im sure I have seen Huntingdon, and then a sequence that looks like the Ouse at Offord, and further on a signal box name that seems to be Cadwell. Then we have Hitchin and Digswell, which would be logical. In between though it goes north from PN, and in addition to Helpston I think there is Walton on that stretch of line too. Some other bits look familiar, but I can't put a name to them.

I'm still pondering over what we could do to lighten the mood during lockdown, but I did take note of those who said they enjoy pictures of carriages. The 6.10 Down Friday only is a West Riding relief, and features nearly the same formation as the Catterick leave train. It is also shown as working out of KX quite early the following morning, another summer Saturday only job. Here it is.

The Gresley FK looks simply stunning. Not my prototype, of course, but a beautiful model of a most attractive vehicle.

Now I looked on their list and didn't see it.   I could tell the underframe and gubbins were MJT.  Now you've said that, of course, I've found it.

Still following 60049, we see it heading for the gloom,

 

 

and then find that it isn't that gloomy after all.

The 6.20 Leeds arrives behind another A3, 60111 of Grantham.

 

 

while at Platform 6, our lovely little J15 has brought the East shuttle in.

I have had a day of delightful idleness, Lincoln City won 6-2, and an event across the pond cheered me no end.

 

While the 6.20 Down Leeds waits, the 5.33 from that City pulls in.

 

 

Woolwinder is in charge, and adds to the smoke under the roof.

We now have A3s standing at both ends of the station, so close ups are called for.
