Some engines seemed to turn up at least once every time I visited the ECML, and this was one of them.

60123 would be in my top five most seen, and thus got booed regularly. I don't think I saw it at Peterborough, but then I only remember going there twice.

I like the detail around the water column.

That was one of the things that stood out in prototype pictures, so I wanted to get as near as possible. The trespass notice should really be a GNR one, but at the moment that is filed under "too difficult". I do like small detail, even if I can't see it very well nowadays.

Here are the other two pictures of the V2. The first shows how much it is improved when the smokebox door is fitted correctly. As usual, I will leave Tim to tell you how that was achieved.

The next one is pretty horrid, but I'll post it anyway.

He's made a fantastic improvement. Sad it had to be done in the first place.

Hi Gilbert

Great photo, Tim’s work just gets better and better, 60881 I believe was fitted with a double chimney, but I assume that was after the period you are modelling

It emerged from Darlington with the double chimney in October 1960, and was withdrawn in June 1963. Hard to see the point of that.

Then it is back to the platform end, to watch the A4 dwindle into the distance, while the sounds from the chimney do the opposite, as the regulator is opened.635853440_12frombehind.JPG.c9e900c560f44a1fc54ee9aed40e3191.JPG

I don't know whether you did it deliberately, but the way the bridge ends just by the foreground signal fools the eye (mine anyway) into thinking that it carries on to the left. Very nice.
