RMweb Gold Market65 Posted May 18, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 18, 2020 So, not mentioning the Kitson Still steam and diesel locomotive, with it’s 2-6-2T wheel arrangement, I’m going for the V2 for a tender engine, and the V1/V3 for the tank engine. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 18, 2020 Tea accompaniment is another experimental shot, from up on Crescent Bridge again. Usually impossible as straight into the light, but I wondered if I tried it early on before the sun has got round too far, it might work. My thought is that the light is just about passable, but it is spoilt by there being nothing behind the wagons on the Midland side. My mind just went to temporary backscenes. Well, it can b****** well come back again. 22

RMweb Premium Clive Mortimore Posted May 18, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2020 2-6-2 tank locomotive. How about those nice class 3 ones made by Sir Henry or Sir William? Or even Mr Ivatt and Mr Riddles class 2 locomotives? I think today it will be one of Sir Williams class 3 engines, they looked lovely but apparently were useless. Surely that makes them the strongest contender......None of this GWR Prairie malarkey or even the LNER V1 and V3s, despite my model one being a superb performer. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 18, 2020 Sorry, forgot your mid afternoon photo, busy swearing at the laptop. RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 18, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 18, 2020 Well, I have completed the revised sequence, which meant a great deal of work today. Now I'm recovering, but tomorrow I shall run through from start to finish, and play spot the errors, as there are bound to be some. Then I can start the new sequence using the laptop, and any other glitches can be put right as I run through it. Small changes will be OK up there, but the big job needed to be done in comfortable surroundings, and a chair with plenty of support. I will reflect tomorrow on what I have found as I went through 360 slides, and how it will make things easier from now on, but for now, here are your evening images. Our shabby and almost last single chimney A4 is waiting in the bay for the Colchester - Glasgow to arrive, and we get a rear three quarter view. Then we come again to the strange Grimsby to KX parcels, which has only two vehicles. I wondered if I was mis reading this, but no, the book says that on arrival at KX the weight of the train is 70 tons! Presumably whatever loco was used would get a harder job in the reverse direction, so a K3 has the job. 61828 was a Lincoln engine, and I remember it well, so that's why it got that identity. Alas, it is wrong in more than one respect, and so may in the future have its identity changed. Anyway, here it is. It has a BZ as second vehicle tonight, as I had a coupling problem again.

First one is from a different angle to the one I posted last night, and with the loco repositioned. Looks better to my eye, but what do others think? I reckon that is a brilliant shot Gilbert, despite the curves it shows the bridge off really well without the ends disappearing into space. RMweb Premium St Enodoc Posted May 19, 2020 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 19, 2020 I've already voted for the V4. To be honest, I can't think of any 2-6-2T that is graceful and attractive so I"ll pass on that.

I have a pressing problem to sort out, but will think further later.
RMweb Premium Popular Post great northern Posted May 19, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Popular Post Share Posted May 19, 2020 (edited) Up early, nice morning, throw back the curtains, and see a nearly empty pond, and a partly flooded garden. Something has knocked the pipe off my filter box during the night. Slow refill has commenced. The Colchester- Glasgow is arriving. Something has gone wrong at Cambridge, apparently no relief engine available, so the Colchester engine gets all the way to PN. 61666 was one of the last two B17s to get a general overhaul, and 30E have kept the paintwork very clean.
