WhiteRoseRambler
Looking through some old photos of mine I came across a picture I took of a Class 15 at Toton in about 1984/5. Does anyone have an idea as to what its number was, what it was doing there and what became of it? Many thanks. Chris
backwaterscotland
Was it this one? : ADB968002 Departmentals.Net Old number: D8237 Departmental use: Train Heating Unit Other comments: Scrapped - Marple & Gillott, Attercliffe 4/85 Andy B)
WhiteRoseRambler
Certainly looks like it could be. I vaguely remember there being a snowplough next to it when I saw it – it was parked up away from the main shed next to the access road. Many thanks Andy. Now do Heljan plan to do a model of it I wonder? I guess it wouldn’t need a motor.
alcazar
Wasn't it on the Research Centre's books?
John Tomlinson
I have just loaded a couple of scans of this loco onto my website, taken in September 1984. The loco appears to be in the same place, i.e. the top of the sidings at the north end of the shed. See http://john-tomlinson4.fotopic.net under Midland lines - 3; Toton. Poor Old Bruce
Wasn't it on the Research Centre's books? I very much doubt it. It certainly never got there.
Baby Deltic
Looks like ADB968002 (D8237) My link I remember ADB968001 (D8233) was at Colchester for years. All four class 15 conversions were carried out by Colchester Depot. I think BR selling all but one of the loco's for scrap after they had survived for so long was unbelievable. Rail-Online
Hi, It was there from late 1981 (for repairs and then used as spares) until March 1985 when it was moved to Tinsley yard & scrapped at Rotherham. I always recall it sitting at the North End on the headshunt. Tony
