I did something similar when Flying Scotsman came back into traffic after its long lay-off for repairs etc. This was on the ECML just south of Ryther at a footbridge on Brackenhill Lane. Can't believe that was back on 25/2/2016 - five years ago!

When taking a photo through an LNER cutout sign, do you

A) leave it as you saw it?

or

B) reverse it so you can read it?1979500905_250milesB.jpg.f5ff66a87b63b46d9557eaa661854b55.jpg

even though that reverses the letters on the blurred train behind?

B! It's technically wrong but looks great.

I know a photo from inside the tunnel at Mytholmes on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway is a bit of a cliché, but given that it's not an opportunity that's regularly available, here it is again.

Pannier tank 7714 enters the tunnel on 8th March 2022...

... and a monochrome alternative.

And why not? Think I prefer the b/w one.

I couldn’t decide between the two Peter, so posted both versions.

Intuitively, in my mind, B&W would ‘work’ better, but I quite liked the faded bauxite on the box van and the faint colours in the moss and lichen on the damp tunnel walls in the colour version.

If it had been a cloudless afternoon at the time of the photo, as it had been all morning, then then there also would have been more colour in the Worth valley hills in the background too.

Twin Peaks...if only the TV series featured this pair I might have watched it.  I recall Mrs 4630 was hooked.

"I've no idea how long we'll be stuck here.  Some damn diesel has broken down!"

Swanage Railway on 5th May 2022 and an enforced wait at Harmans Cross mid-afternoon for 34028 Eddystone, which simmers away whilst working a service from Norden to Swanage.

The train crew were excellent, very friendly, kept passengers informed of the situation and anyone who wanted to was invited onto the footplate during the wait, which as it happens wasn't long due to some smart operating by the railway.

Just re-visiting some images from several years ago and this one cropped up, which I didn't post at the time...44871 and 45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier' cross Penistone Viaduct on 15th February 2016 with The Tin Bath rail tour.

The rail tour, which originated at Preston, was steam hauled from Manchester Victoria to Manchester Victoria, via the Hope Valley line to Sheffield - Penistone - Huddersfield and the Calder Valley line.
