motorcycle
I've seen this white container train a lot on the archive but never have seen it live. However on the archive today it shows the white containers go toward the top-left of the webcam (on the way to Landshut). Does anyone know what these wagons are please? If they come from the West of Regensburg, then why do they run-around in Plattling? Does this mean they go to Dingolfing (inbetween Plattling and Landshut)? Thanks the white container train that seems to come each Monday http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201606201130 going toward the top-left of the webcam http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201606201415
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
What's the locomotive on the left, and what sort of containers are those? They look like dumpsters....
llamafish
It's an STLB 1216/183 (one of two), with Innofreight open containers - they can be loaded with anything! I have been told what the load on the train was, but I can't remember. It should hang around waiting for a SETG 193 to arrive, which will then attach onto the train, usually at the rear. motorcycle
is the locomotive in the sidings a Vectron? I don't recognise the livery http://webcam.deg.net/?a=showcam&w=showarchivimage&o=pla&id=201607131315 Edited July 13, 2016 by motorcycle
llamafish
It is indeed. One like this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/philipps-bahnwelt/12208006715/ I'm led to believe it's on hire to a German company, but I can't remember which I'm afraid. EDIT just seen you've changed your post from 'French loco' to 'Vectron' - you were right first time. Edited July 13, 2016 by llamafish

llamafish
A pair of ELL vectrons. I think ELL (European Locomotive Leasing) will have about 300 of these in the next few months! They're a very common sight in the area, partially because there's so many of them!
motorcycle
EDIT just seen you've changed your post from 'French loco' to 'Vectron' - you were right first time. I read what I wrote after posting it and thought I must have been an idiot for thinking it was the French loco! So changed it!
BR 216
I am having trouble logging into the Webcam lately. Anyone know if it is down or have them made changes to it.
brigo
May be a website problem. Archive works OK and is up to date. This link also works http://webcam04.deg.net/cgi-bin/guestimage.html Brian
llamafish
It regularly does it these days, has done for a few years now. Once upon a time it was ever-reliable, not failing to display once, these days, it's probably more like 60% reliable!
TerrySVR
Does anyone know if the web cam at Olten is likely to be moved to its previous, much better, position in the near future?
motorcycle
Does anyone know if the web cam at Olten is likely to be moved to its previous, much better, position in the near future? I would doubt it. It hasn't been in the good position for 4 (?) years now, but then why does the owner bother keeping it going if it isn't going to be moved back one day as the current position won't get many website visitors. TerrySVR
My thoughts exactly maybe an RMWEBBER based nearby could have a chat with web cam owner? Such a pity great station for watching trains.

So it must come from the Plattling paper factory / Plattling sugar factory or Deggendorf Port. It can't have come from Vilshofen as that is too far for one of the men to stand on the back of the wagon for so long. The white vans have writing on them but I can't make out what it says. It only arrives in Platting on a Monday at around 11:15 (German time). *edit* on Google Maps, it looks like the same white vans are found at Plattling Sugar Factory https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/94447+Plattling,+Germany/@48.7865673,12.8805355,184m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x47750dbb9cce56d9:0x3e8be490276de975!8m2!3d48.7806071!4d12.8690362 https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/94447+Plattling,+Germany/@48.7863375,12.8756587,390a,20y,90h,41.53t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x47750dbb9cce56d9:0x3e8be490276de975!8m2!3d48.7806071!4d12.8690362 http://www.suedzucker.de/en/Unternehmen/Standorte/Zuckerfabriken-Deutschland/Werk-Plattling/ Edited August 22, 2016 by motorcycle
Dr Gerbil-Fritters
Firstly, what's that parked up in the loco spur? Secondly, I can't believe it's just over six years since I started this thread and thirdly, why is the image quality much poorer now than it was back then? east_anglian
Looks like one of the Vectrons that is owned by ELL rail leasing and operated by SETG, that carries a promotional livery. However, which one I am not sure; It is either BR 193 831 'Christian Doppler' or BR 193 204 'Mozart'. These both carry near identical livery (in terms of colour), so from this distance it is difficult to tell!! (I have actually got a picture of BR 193 831 passing St.Valentin but unfortunately this was before it was reliveried and was still in as delivered Siemens white with small SETG logos.) Edit: Unless it's the reflection of the sun, the loco appears to have a white cab roof. This would mean it is BR 193 204 'Mozart' as this loco seems to have white cab roofs whereas BR 193 831 seems to have grey cab roofs (this is going from pictures online of both locos). motorcycle
Can't find it on the archive, but the new Beethoven Vectron must have visited Plattling on the 13th to collect the slurry tankers to Slovenija. Here it is in Austria. https://www.flickr.com/photos/136377227@N04/29032122364/in/dateposted/ It's a gorgeous lokomotive. You can see a better look at the livery here https://www.flickr.com/photos/133269283@N05/29701850775/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/133269283@N05/29620669151 Edited September 16, 2016 by motorcycle
John Lewis
There is what looks like a main line diesel in the locomotive spur of Plattling at the moment. (13,00 CET 17/11/16). What class is it, please? John Lewis
llamafish
DB class 232 or 233 'Ludmilla'. DR design.
EddieB
DB class 232 or 233 'Ludmilla'. DR design. To be pedantic it was a Soviet design, built out of Lugansk in Ukraine (type TE109) and supplied to DR.
