Steadfast
No worse than working in 4mm Tom. Just a bit more "impressionist" and the smallest part represents something bigger than it would in 4mm jo
Swifty11
No worse than working in 4mm Tom. Steadfast
Not at all Tom, just showing you don't have to be superman to work in N! The bogie pipe work was more black in filling around the pipes than neat white paint! jo Edited August 13, 2014 by ewsjo
hoover50008
Joe Here is the latest re-incarnation. 08645 recently back from overhaul in Derby outside No3 Road at Laira. E
Steadfast
Now that looks rather smart. I'd seen a picture of it at Derby, but the nameplates finish it off. Luvverly jubbly jo
Steadfast
A small update, I've been working on this addition to the road vehicle fleet. There's more detail about it here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/82521-jos-n-gauge-road-vehicles/in my road vehicle thread (end of page 1, continues on 2) jo Edited December 14, 2014 by ewsjo

hoover50008
Hi Jo Just got round to posting this, 08644 was named back in November.. It was named to commemorate the first 50 years of Laira depot all be it a little late. E
Steadfast
08644 is looking really smart now, great name too. I'd been wondering what the plate said. Here's my take on it pre repaint! I've printed and attached all the no pedestrian access and limited clearance signs tonight, there's a few other additions still to finalise. I'll get a photo of them all together before the weekend, see how many you can spot at the exhibition at Calne this weekend coming! 08644 still needs a couple of finishing touches but is nearly there jo
Steadfast
A couple of quick photos taken on the phone of some of the new bits for this weekend. I'll try to get some better pics over the weekend and offer a fuller explanation with them. Please do say hello if you're visiting the Calne show this weekend jo

hoover50008
Jo Couple more reference pictures for you. Firstly a recent visitor has been DRS 57310 which was being used on the Night Sleeper, nice looking loco but was very un reliable as you can tell as it is at Laira during the day and not at Penzance. I like the picture of the Lorry with the bogies on, a common sight at Laira. Here is a picture of a power unit lorry under the hoist with 08641 shunting the wagon. Steadfast
Evening everyone, Ian - thanks for those pictures, in fact it was searching for Belcher Cammack on flickr for more pictures of their engine carriers that gave me the idea to do the bogie carrying wagon. The flatbed trailer seem a lot more achievable across 3 evenings last week compared to the engine carrier! There's one with MTU branding on it, so that one is tempting for the future, just to make it extra clear what's being delivered... So, the promised pictures of today. Apologies for the lack of depth of field, these were all taken hand held at a low F number. I'll try to remember the tripod tomorrow! First up, here's 08644 again. It still needs some First Group blue patches, grimy bits and white roof spatters (birds or paint?...) adding, but is just about done. The barrier it's hauling is a Farish Mk1 BG, representing vehicle 6336. The corridor connectors were removed and plated over, before adding plating over the bodyside windows. The door windows I didn't bother to plate, as they looked quite convincing as soon as a coat of primer went over them. Next up developments at the "Shanty town" as I believe it's known. A cheap mk3 was sliced into many pieces to produce the stash of parts below. I owe thanks to my friend at FGW for some guidance in what breaks down into what on a mk3 (and the pink primer suggestion!) and the idea of having pallets on top of the containers. Extra containers and vans have been added. Apparently the van roofs are lacking a few tarpaulins...looks like that's the next development. Delivering to the depot sees the previously mentioned flatbed with bogies back from overhaul. The tractor unit is pinched from my steel truck, featured on my road vehicles thread http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/82521-jos-n-gauge-road-vehicles/?p=1701948 Eventually the trailer will probably gain an EWS tractor unit, delivering wagon bogies and in use on the other layout. The BT10s are from a Dapol mk3, with suitable additions to the tops to represent the brake gear and the lateral bars across the ends of the bogies. A compromise is that the air tanks and brake rigging are transposed due to the wider than scale wheels, but it looks ok, and no one noticed today The area closer to the shed has seen further details, including a Transit as featured previously, based on a St Philip's Marsh example. Inside we have a cab ready to go onto a power car. After inspiration from flickr, I call it Apollo 11! 66152 drops off today's consignment of fuel in TTAs Finally an overview of the moves today jo Edited January 17, 2015 by ewsjo

Steadfast
Cheers for that, I'll look forward to it! Fuel on 'Baby Laira' is still by rail. DB 66152 was the loco of choice this weekend. I think that's one detail that won't be getting updated, always a nice extra move bringing the tanks on to the layout jo
