Richard L and myself will be there both days as part of the Horselunges team.

Looking forward to meeting the team and having Horselunges "come home" so to speak with the layout named after the manor house in the village of Hellingly, which is situated about 10 miles south of Uckfield. If I remember correctly the prototypes of all the buildings on the layout are within a stone's throw of the village.

Maybe heading over that way on the Saturday (mainly thanks to a convenient rest day swap) I was just saying the other day I must be due my annual pilgrimage down the Uckfield branch to sample my paymasters 171's... :D

Thought I would bump this with only 5 days to go.

Just one other thing - some of the early magazine publicity had 'Springfield Spa GWR', the new layout in British N from Michael Watts, as down to attend. However Michael has had to withdraw the layout from the show as because of family illnesses he felt he would be unlikely to have it in an acceptable exhibitory condition by this weekend. We wish him and his family well.

Our many thanks to Ray Slack who has agreed to bring 'Bodmin GWR' down from Stockport at relatively short notice as an excellent replacement.

Hope its nothing too serious for Michael Watts, he had been ill before his attendance at Tonbridge this year. Looking forward to going to Uckfield on the Sunday with a couple of others from Tonbridge MRC.

As far as I'm aware it's not Michael that's poorly but close members of his family.

Time for a cheeky bump,

I should be in attendance as part of the host club's team for most of the weekend (dependant on any emergency callouts).

Any RMWebbers attending might be advised to check my profile for a pic to make sure they say hi to the correct fat geezer  :P

Hope the show is going well! :)

Need to big up my club Worthing MRC's fab layout 'Loftus Road' - plenty of modern day West London Line action - will be there Sunday playing trains and running my new Southern Class 377 Electrostar for the first time!!

Hope to see you there guys!

Just back home after a rather tiring and long journey to Uckfield only to be greeted by almost total grid lock in the town center and a parking nightmare !

Finally managed to push my way into a space in the Tesco car park.

My opinion of the show - obviously a big success as the punters were pushing and shoving everyone around, I thought midday might be a quiet time - but no way thankfully the cafe was full otherwise it would have been absolutely awful.

This show needs a better venue with more space so that the trade can spread out of the confined corners and you can see the layouts without standing side on in front of another layout squashed in a corner or with your back to a busy trade stand. (viz The Green Room) A lot of pushing and shoving and gereal rudeness of the punters made this venue unpleasant.

All that aside:

The selection of layouts was well worth the fight (and perhaps the reason for the fight) to get to the front.

My favourite (there has to be one among many) was Horselunges. But the rest were up there with it, all entertaining.

A very successful day with increased attendance and people staying longer, but as Kenton has mentioned this led to very crowded aisles especially during the late morning session. However mid afternoon was very pleasant and the host Club is looking forward to a busy day ahead but hopefully without the overcrowding to see the exhibits and purchase from the trade.

For those that have been to us before on the Sunday, traditionally a quieter day than the Saturday, the home refuse service that used to occupy part of the town carpark is no longer in operation - so all the more parking spaces for us!

For me, a nice show - a good cross section of layouts at different scales and all high quality.

I only managed to spend about an hour and a half there and despite getting jostled by a few rucksacks and encountering a few people with personal hygiene problems, I thoroughly enjoyed the show, escaping only with a new Fibreglass stick pen and a few refills.

My favourite layout was Highbury Colliery (2FS of course ;)) and it was very nice to finally meet Jerry and Kim having not managed to at the Expo.

Well worth coinciding a UK bound flight back for...will be checking the diary for next year :D

Just home from clearing the hall, once again we had a good weekend and for me personally the highlights were "Hospital Gates" (which took the best in show title - totally the right decision) and I was allowed to operate "Wantage Tramway" and "Highbury Colliery" when the operators had breaks, huge thanks to both layout owners :good_mini: :good_mini: :D . It was good to spend some time chatting to Richard and Gordon of "Horselunges".

Another excellent show - Thanks to the Uckfield MRC. It is the one show in the year that I get over for and every year seems to get better. I visited on Sunday this year, and there were certainly less visitors than on a Saturday. Personally, I have never found parking a problem - but I park away from the venue and walk in. My personal favourite was Loftus Road, which is reflected in the number of pictures

Hi to all the RMWeb members that I met while there! Hope to see you again in 2011.

Some nice photos there.

Now I know why I didn't recognise you at the show Kevin - Goatee, yes - Fat, no...you need to alter the description of yourself

I have been caught in the first shot looking at the St Nicholas layout...the BR blue blue one...no surprises there...:P

If anyone is interested Adrian has now put all the pics he took at the show on the website http://www.uckfieldmrc.co.uk/exhib10nf.html including a shot of a very dodgy looking temporary operator on Highbury Colliery LOL

Kev

Hi Kev, considering you had about thirty seconds of instruction on the operating niceties of the colliery before Kim and I shot off to look around the rest of the show I think you did pretty well

Some excellent photos from Andrew, reminder of what a cracking show it was. Thanks again to the Uckfield club for looking after us so well. Was good to meet up with BCN Pete at last although Kim's still not convinced about running the colliery in early 60's hydraulic mode for some shows next year!!

Thanks again to the Uckfield club for looking after us so well.

Glad that both you and Kim enjoyed yourselves and once again many thanks for bringing Highbury Colliery to the show.

As Kevin has mentioned a full photographic retrospective of this year's Uckfield exhibition is now published on the Club's website at:

Provisional details of our 2011 show are also there.
