RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted May 22, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2014 I haven't built an MSL EM1 but here is a 7mm EM2 I built a few years ago. This has most of the same faults as the EM1, particularly the flattened roof profile but it's much improved with our pantographs.

RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted May 22, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 22, 2014 Not fitted yet, the EM2s were named later, this is in original condition.
61650gtfc
That looks nice Mike. I had to pack the cab roofs with plastic sheet on the em1 and reduce the height of the pantograph area roof to get it all in line. A lot of models that I have seen built haven't had this done and this leaves a big step between these two sections. Did you use the original bogie chassis? I'm not too please with how mine have turned out.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted May 26, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 26, 2014 I think I used the kit bogies but I can't definitely remember, I did power both bogies though. One of the poorer features is the equal wheelbase bogie, I don't think he could afford two bogie patterns.
61650gtfc
Just goes to show... I never even realised the EM2 had unequal bogies.
RMweb Premium Michael Edge Posted May 29, 2014 RMweb Premium Share Posted May 29, 2014 The difference isn't great, 7'8" x 8'0" but is is noticeable.
