RMweb Premium Mallard60022 Posted November 3, 2009 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 3, 2009 Has anyone encountered 4mm scale (actually 4'4") 13 spoke 16mm tender wheels? I can only find 12 spoke wheels on the usual source sites (Ultrascale/Gibson/Markits). (Isinglass states 13 spoke, 4'4" wheels). Is this a compromise that has to be accepted? They are for the ex. GC 4000gal version used on the Thompson O1s. Many thanks, PR 36E GC
45609
Just answered this here..... http://www.lner.info/forums/o1-2-8-0-tender-wheels-t2814.html Hi Mallard, This topic came up on one of the Scalefour modelling forums a while ago. AFAIK there is no commercially available wheel for Great Central tenders (i.e. 4'4" with 13 spokes). Going for 4'3" is not really a compromise in terms of diameter as it is well within the allowance for a worn wheel that has been re-turned. BTW someone even went to Loughborough to check the size and number of spokes on the Robinson O4. The Isinglass drawing is right as most other references (Roche, Sharman, Skinley etc....) incorrectly state 12 spokes. Cheers....Morgan
