HO Scale MV Caledonian Princess

Hi Carl,

I think they may have been an orangey colour on the settees, the desk chairs were darker - maybe brown. It's a long time ago since I was in there! That would be near enough for me anyway. (The second class seats were a light beige shade, almost cream.) Do you fancy doing 4mm impressionist paintings on the bulkhead facing forward? - might start a new art form. (On the rear side of that divider was a series of charts of the North Channel between N. Ireland and Scotland. But that won't be seen from outisde anyway.)

regards

Colm

Hi Carl,

Hope all is good with you! I just stumbled across this last night and was amazed at how quickly this ship has taken shape. It looks superb and all the lighting and detail is a nice touch. the planked decking looked very good a bit back in your thread. I'm sure I have an old book somewhere with a picture of that boat in it. In Barrow docks there is a ship called the Princess Selandia it was a night club until recently but it has been bought back by the Danes? As it was the last of its kind in use as a train Ferry - the rails use to lie below the decking they installed for the nightclub floor. It was call the Blue Lagoon when it was a club - you should do that one at some point but with the rails and trains being loaded!

Will keep an eye out on these ship builds very well made!

Thanks,

Mark

I have also hit a snag, I am going to have to rethink the power for the lighting, when I connected the new lights, all the rest went very dim and some went off, I think i will have to wire it deck by deck, ie, each deck having its own 12v supply.

Hi all

Port side now done, apart from all the detail and to fit the windows.

Lighting is next!

It mite look like its taking longer to build then Heb, but its 4 times the work with this having lighting, i did not have to use black card inside Heb to stop light showing out everywhere. This build is far more refined.

any comments?

Hi Carl

You should bring the "Caledonian Princess" to Ayr. It would surprise you how many boat enthusiasts visit the show due to Squires Tools being there.

Regards

Stephen

Hi Stephen

She will be passing Ayr on her way to Stranraer to catch the ferry over to Larne when she is finished.

back to the build, i have been very busy on her, got lots done!

Your windows are so amazingly regular, far better than what i could manage. How do you do it? Do you have a stamp, or a template, or an electric cutting machine?

I'm extremely impressed. I think you must have far more patience than me. For anything like that i tend to always mess up at least one, so i have a computer controlled cutter i can set to work on making nice regular shapes.
