Had a day of home reserve today, so watched the RmWeb tutorial (http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/84168-whats-involved-with-processing-an-image-for-the-magazine/) on editing photos using photoshop. There is a lot to learn but i did manage to add a backscene, need to review how to soften or feather the eraser function.  Overall I'm please with it though.

Before, using layouts temp scene

The area behind the container terminal has been neglected for sometime now, so I decided to rectify this today. Bare card needed replacing.

So I decided to set too; then work called. Not to be put off with work and as we spend some time in hotels I packed up needed bits and headed off to the plane. Once in the hotel I set up my "new" workbench and set to work.

I should keep a travel pack with me to do modelling when I wake up early in hotels.

Our only problem is that we normally only pack for carry on bags these days even when away for a few weeks.

Did do some modellnig once when I still had plenty to do to a layout the first time it went to a show but we had the car so all the modelling tools were with me.

57309 reversed out of the way as the retaining wall was lowered and and fixed into place.

Another significant point from the first picture is; the plaster and the bare wood are the last pieces that need to be sceneiced!

Finally got some time to work on the layout. I only have a small portion left to do on the scenic side of things so i decided to get into it. The area behind the container terminal really looked fit for a small water feature or calm pond. I went wiyh the pond.

I really didnt want to be messing around with any of the liquid water effects so I raised the area up with card and filled it with sand and some greenery then placed a piece of transparency over it to look like still water.

Then I had a look at our pond and the ponds while I was out on the bike. Lots had grass right down to the water, I went for this effect. Using my method of making grass mats I traced out the hole for the pond from the cut out piece of card, I then spread glue and static grass.

Once dry it pealed off leaving a nice opening for the water.

To mis quote a US President; Mission Accomplished, major scenic operations have ceased! Thats right the last bit of static grass is down all thats left is detailing and some scalescene kits. I wanted this area to be overgrown brambly looking, think it came out ok.
