Half way through a 50 mile bike ride I ran across this at a road crossing in Milford NH

That is a nice GP40. Ex Penn Central and Conrail. The box on the walkway at the short hood (nose) end is the equipment box for the cab signals used on the former PRR lines.

Management at NSEr is always on the lookout for new (to us) NSE branded stock that they can bring into the stable of Network Southeast railways, so when they heard rumours of 47715 being available they jumped at the chance to get a hold of this loco.  They heard it was at New Street yard, a small loco repair shop run by enthusiasts of NSE.  So they flew in the company helicopter to have a look.

After landing they made there way down to the fitters and though lightly used and weathered it looked to be in pretty good condition.  Their first view was from the overbridge and things looked promising.

Once they were down the entrance road it looked really good

So there were some calls made back and forth to the accounting office and upper management and soon the deal was completed.  One of our party lived nearby and sent some photos of the loco leaving from in the tunnel mouth.

Having seen the pictures of the loco the Boss at NSEr was so happy to have found 47715, the fitters had managed to get the buffer beam detail and the NSE brand onto the front.  Soon 477715 will be at NSEr TMD ready for its first outing.

I couldnt resist buying one of the NSE class 47's.

Found a spare decoder for it this morning so it might be on the test track tonight. No real use for it but it looks great.

Spent a pleasant couple of hours today at a local show put on by Concord Model railway Club (trainweb.org/cmrc) mostly sellers with a few layouts scattered about. Nice to see familiar faces and catch up with folks whom one only tends to see a few times a year at these events. Also got my yearly fix of operating an HO DCC sound fitted loco on a freinds layout depecting the nearby town of Milford NH. Makes me wonder about switching to DCC and sound each time I operate it.

This local dealer was there ( http://modeltechstudios.com/index.aspx)loads of small detail stuff for many scales. Clearly intended for US layouts but some stuff could end up on a UK layout..... I picked up some detail parts for the TMD, Angus Builders and Milford Cement & Sand.

Once 08921 was fixed and moved off attention was given to 47474, looks like it might be some serious work needed. The shed was full so some of the work was done outside on the hard standing.

Once some locos had moved off from the shed 47715 was brought in to drag 47474 to the shed (a bit more 1990s maybe:-))
