Gloucester Roads Fire Station took a huge leap forward in construction today. Roof was finished, plumbing put in, antennas and security cameras installed and wired in. Pavement laid down, don't block hatching painted. Drill tower and other door still need to be built, then it will be bedded in and sceniced.

Nothing to report from the Fire Station today. It was a beautiful Autumn day so cycling was on order.

However, I did have a short operating session whilst waiting for the temps to make it into the mid 40s Fahrenheit.

66702 arrived with a very short set of CDAs which were then shunted in Milford Sand and Cement.

I have successfully ticked off 2 rights of passage when cycling.  Back in September 2016 I had a big high speed crash on my road bike, this past Saturday I crash on my mtn bike. Whilst going off a drop in the woods my pedal caught a portion of the rock and stopped, I went over the bars and over the drop landing headfirst at the bottom; helmet did it's job.

Moral of the story put your helmet on. I don't usually go the emergency room, but with fear of neck and spine injury off I went; luckily nothing is broken, very sore and swollen with some possible muscle tears. So I came away lucky.

In an interesting twist these arrived In the post, so though cycling might be done for  a few weeks, and assuming my right arm works enough to cut, paint and assemble I should be busy.

66072 had the honour of pulling the new Castle Cement PCAs from Ketton Cement to Milford Sand&Cement. These wagons are amazing; running quality, detail are top notch. With Revolution, Realtrack and other "small manufactures" putting out quality products the big 2 have their work cut out for them.

Mine did that too! It sparked on a set of points and there was a bit of smoke... then 6 months later I got it out to see if I could fix it and it worked perfectly!

We’ve clearly got healing fingers :)

My Southwest Trains 170 has been lightly weathered. having looked at pictures it appears that the sides stay pretty clean with the underframe, bogies etc collecting the most dirt. Light application of powders to underframe and front. Used panel ink to pick out roof detail and vents on the side.
