RMweb Gold trw1089 Posted May 21, 2012 RMweb Gold Share Posted May 21, 2012 It's a great layout you have there, and I like the triangle concept and the two sheds, especially the contrast between the grimy steam shed and the relatively clean diesel one. It sort of hints at why steam was in demise as you know which one the crews would probably like working at more. Cheers Tony
37023
Thank you for exhibiting this brilliant layout at our show last weekend. It was ace finally getting to see the layout in the flesh, i must say if you didnt see the layout at manchester you need to catch it on the circuit its well worth it! 67A
Hi guy's Many thanks for your comments, thoroughly enjoyed the event. Will be a regular visiter if you keep thes dates as they don't clash with the Merseyside MRS show as they did of which I am a member. tender
Nice shed layout, like the way you go around the corner giving you a triangle instead of the usual turntable. Here's a couple of pics I took. Ray Edited May 22, 2012 by tender
67A
Hi Ray, Many thanks for uploading the pic's, they show much more than my own did on the day. You got lucky getting the two Clans on shed, that was a one off! Cheers Mike
67A
Hi all, Just a note to let everyone know that Bermuda Road is still around. Unfortunately a flood damaged both the layout a little and the shed it was housed in was beyond repair and had to be demolished. I am currently rebuilding a blockwork replacement for the shed. I also have another layout project on the boil with 'Dent' station, this can be followed on rmweb in layout topics. Cheers Mike

67A
just found this superb layout, sorry to hear it has been damaged. you have a great eye for detail. Hi there, Thanks for that. Everything was going well and it had returned from the L&Y DCC event in Manchester and simply laid on the floor while I got on with 'summer' activities. I ventured into the shed in early August to a musty smell then found the remains of the flood damage, absolutely gutted is putting it mildly. The whole layout still in its carrying mode was taken elsewhere to 'dry' and has been there since. It does not appear to be badly damaged but some work will be required before attending any further shows. Watch this space! Cheers Mike

67A
Hello Mike, Just found this lovely layout, excellent vary realistic great stuff, what shows are you at next ? love to see it. George.. Hi George, Unfortunately I have no shows booked at present mainly due to the flood damage, I am still rebuilding the den' at present. The new den' will house my new project 'Dent Station' and 'Bermuda Road' but not at the same time! As soon as the building is complete I can set-up bermuda and check and repair any damage then let exhibition managers know I am available again, keep looking in Cheers Mike Edited March 26, 2013 by mike61680

67A
Hi all, Just to let you know I have taken 'Bermuda Road MPD' out of storage and I'm in the process of carrying out some maintenance and any required repairs, please see my 'DENT STATION' thread for latest updates. In the meantime.... If there are any exhibition managers looking for a layout for a North West based show then 'Bermuda Road MPD' should hopefully be ready in 3-4 months. Please PM me for full details I'm sure it can be revamped in good time, biggest problem is space, to fully set it up and test it out I need a dry day and use the patio outside as there is no room in the shed! 1
67A
Hi guys, Well a week has passed and a lot has happened. I have set up the front three sections which is all I have room for in the side passageway, this will give me the chance to get started on a few repairs and modifications such as wiring up the street lighting, most of the lights are in position but the wires were not connected. The other good news is that the layout is booked for the POYNTON Nr. Stockport exhibition on 14th & 15th September so that gives me 6 months to fettle the layout one board at a time. Weather permitting my mates are coming round next Saturday to set the whole layout up on the patio to ensure the electrics are as they should be. I also have a provisional booking for Heywood next year. In the meantime here is the current situation... The front viewing face is assembled under cover in the side passageway of the house. The TMD section is in the garage having the street lighting wired (now completed.) The scratchbuilt yard lamps were already wired and just need the bases disguising. The link section is next to have the lighting done, possibly tomorrow. # One other thing I started several years ago was the alterations to the fiddleyard board, originally it was just 5 random tracks so I decided to revise the whole assembly and introduce a turntable which can double as a simple sector plate. Well that's about it for now so keep looking in.
RMweb Gold fishytrains Posted March 24, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 Certainly looks interesting and rather different to Dent. Regards Mike
67A
Yes, this was one of my usual type of layout with loads of points and plenty of interest both on and off the railway, Dent was built as a complete change with the idea of 'just watching the trains go by' taking precedence which it certainly does however, having now resurrected Bermuda Road I'm quite eager to see it with a good stock of loco's plying back and forth. I'm currently working on some working signals as the layout originally only had dummy versions, not the easiest job and a bit tedious too! Thanks for looking in, sorry I never got to play on Dent today, the weather being fine gave me the chance to clean up the patio in readiness for the big test of Bermuda Road next Saturday - weather permitting.
67A
Hi all, A very successful day was had yesterday, my mates came round and we set-up the layout outside on the patio, plugged all the leads in and gave the whole thing a thorough testing. The only faults found were a couple of isolation areas were NOT isolating - DOH!! Only other fault was about 4 point motors completely failed to operate, these are the common PECO solenoid type, now one I would say could be faulty but not 4, so some manual action combined with a spray of electric spray 'Servisol' and all was well. Fabulous! Not bad for a layout laid up for almost 7 years. I also made some notes of items needing repairs or modifying so I have a little list to get through over the coming weeks however there is nothing raising any concerns so all should be ready easily for Poynton in September. Here are a few pictures of the layout set-up yesterday. I need to make a few more columns for the gap in the retaining wall. This street requires proper lamps fitting Just some scenics to revamp in this view Again scenics refurb is about all I have lost a factory entrance gate! Scenics on this board and the isolation fault to rectify At the rear of the building the offices and stores section will be rebuilt Bit of scenics again I'm considering renewing the town roadway on the right The yard lamp in the foreground has lost its hood and has a fault so need to fabricate a new brass hood and probably renew the 'grain of wheat' bulb. The wall on the left was broken so this new section was cast and painted last week and just needs weathering. Scenics refurb and wire in the street lamps Nothing of note in this view Revival of the bushes is on the cards I never fitted any of the backscene items but they will be checked well before the Poynton show. So all in all a busy weekend and the weather played ball for a change. That's it for now guys.
67A
Hi all, Had a busy week or two on Bermuda Road, several tidying up jobs and repairs completed plus a few modifications... This scratchbuilt yard lamp was damaged and had a missing top shade, I fabricated a replacement from brass and fitted a new GOW bulb. Next the revised fiddleyard board had the track laid last weekend and today was the turn of connecting it to the layout A full strip of copperclad bridges the gap between the layout and the turntable with a pair of sliding bar connectors to line up each track (notice I forgot to take a photo with them lined-up DOH!) This Gaugemaster uncoupler has been fitted on a trial basis to evaluate if suitable, it will be painted to resemble a boarded walkway crossing and several other will be installed should it be successful. Next main project will be the renovation of the Loco Shed building... I made this Northlight roof building around 20 years ago from 6mm Birch ply and although its still looks pretty good I want to update the printed brickwork for Plasticard among other improvements. (Drainpipes are not required on this side as it faces a wall.) The two outer doors are vulnerable so have been put aside, the inside will also have the brickwork replaced and painted black at the bottom and white above, hopefully the interior lighting will show up better when this is done. The rear annexe will be completely rebuilt in Perspex with Plasticard brick detail to match. The roof will be refurbished with York Modelmaking slates which I have used previously on DENT to good effect. That's it for now guys.

67A
Hi James, Many thanks, I could not believe it myself, its been 7 years in storage and to be honest its only cosmetic work that's required which is a bonus. Don't forget its booked for the Poynton show in September so you could see it there if you have the chance.
67A
Hi all, Had a trip out to the York show on Sunday and here are a few shots taken for the detail rather than the trains Fabulous stonework detail on this layout achieved with Humbrol enamels Some fantastic rolling stock to drool over on this layout.
