67A
Maybe you could have a large party of enthusiasts decanting from a suitable vehicle and heading through the gate with a Foreman character rushing towards them. I've not seen that modelled before. You could have fun getting them decked out in appropriate garb for the era! Meanwhile there could be a single 'spotter' sneaking round the back through a fence whilst the Foreman is otherwise engaged? 36E Cracking idea! The guy sneaking round the back would be me! I was looking through the ScR MPD book by Paul Bolger yesterday and the picture of Eastfield with the depot foreman's building on the approach ramp came instantly to memory, the chastisements uttered from the man clad in brown dustcoat and trilby would no doubt have him up in court in today's PC climate. Naturally I can't repeat any of his torrent! - Happy days. cheers mike.

RMweb Premium Kris Posted November 28, 2010 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 28, 2010 I tried using of the no more nail type glue with plasticard, but found that it didn't stick to well. Did you do anything to the plasticard before sticking it?

Did you do anything to the plasticard before sticking it? Good question Kris! No I used it without giving it a thought, however the detailing blocks etc. have been additionally fixed with Mek-Pac so here's hoping. To be honest I use this at work and it seems to hold anything you dont want it to so with the depressions in the 7mm stone it seemed a good idea at the time. Mike. scanman
Interesting approach to the underbridge. I take it that the abutments are made from uurethane foam? if so, thats an idea I might copy for a viaduct on a curve... So much easier than trying to cut plasticard/card to fit.... Spannerman
I'm enjoying this fantastic concept, completely different to the usual style of layouts on display. Great to see it all taking shape and the construction methods as well. ATB Nik
scanman
Re the overbridge, Mr Honda says 'Imitate & you imitate for ever' - but imitation is also 'the sincerest form of flattery'. Mike - consider yourself flattered! Tried it out on my skew, arched viaduct - works a treat. No more cutting out trapezoid pieces of card etc! I'm glad it worked for you as I have only begun to use it myself having got a small supply of offcuts from a printer last year but its definately easier to work with than some of the old methods. cheers mike
67A
Hi guys, Well I've had a busy few weeks but I've managed to do a bit more on the project. Following advice from fellow RMWeb members regarding CASTING items has provided me with a new skill!. I now have a pretty convincing retaining wall which needless to say still needs completing but here's few photo's to be going on with. Looking toward arrival roads Looking from the MPD Looking toward fiddle yard Looking from depot roads looking from the depot roads Looking toward the MPD The coaling stage & exit route Arrival from fiddle yard I will post some progress done on the TMD later in the week guys, footie's on in minute. Happy new year to you all. Mike

67A
Hi Guy's Here are some updates on the other work done, firstly on the TMD section, you may have noticed the two sections are separate, this is due to my having to clamber underneath the boards if they were bolted together. General view of entrance From opposite side 'Clayton' as per normal receiving attention Depot interior taking shape with introduction of 'flight deck' maintenance structures 'Western' receiving attention - lost buffer. This give the depot scope to handle loco's from the length and breadth of the UK! Another view showing inside improvements The bridge is also looking pretty good... A bit of weathering is in order next. That's about it for the moment, I hope to concentrate on the TMD area next. Cheers Mike.

67A
looking good! i do like a layout that isnt straight, curving here there and every where keep it up. Chris Hi chris, I feel the same way, I like to see some curvature or off square sidings etc, if its too regimental it reminds me of my train set which was altered time after time but still looked straight in the end, How can I possibly remember my train set from 50 years ago and not remember what I'm doing when I'm doing it.......... Now what's next Cheers mike

Can you try and fit me in a extra day or two in the week as I can't get the time to do much at present. Work keeps getting in the way ! 67A
Hi all, Not a lot to report I'm sorry to say due to work-work-work. Anyway I have done a bit on the TMD area, the board has been added to the main sections which will now show the full set-up. A little more detailing has been started on the the TMD itself and the retaining walls carried around to the tunnel mouth which will disguise the fiddle yard. Still plenty to do ............
