Hornby Maunsell Bogies

Recommended Posts

If you find out let me know! I contacted Hornby and the usual Hornby spares people to be told its unlikely you'll get them on their own. But we can live in hope. I just chop one Hornby coach into two and use the leftovers. Mind you I would be tempted to use the whole underframe under a Kirk but then again why bother as there is only one type [open third] not available from the Hornby range. I use the Ratio ones and have replaced Kirk bogies with these a few times.

Well i wrote a reply almost identical to the one above and then managed to loose it in posting!

In essence the cut down version is:

Hornby Maunsell bogies: - not available separately.

Bachmann Bulleid bogies - available in packs of 2 for about ??4 (Bulleid didn't change the Maunsell design) but these are not as detailed as the Hornby ones.

The best option must be to use the whole Hornby underframe / bogies moulding and splice the kirk body onto it. This will give a much better result than the standard Kirk parts (and the bogie centres would be correct).
