should be an interesting night tonight for the followers of Oldham Athletic as owner Abdulah lemsgham finaly fullfills his EFL mandated duty and holds the first open fans forum after 18 months of avoiding doing so .petty that the venue only holds 120 its all ticket and the questions are all pre vetted with a promised open q&a if thers time .compare and contrast with the meet the manager next week with new incumbant Deano marmria in a 600 seat venue open questions obe would think hes try to deflect blame tho Deanos vitriolic atack on the clubs recruitment policy over the summer after tuesdays abject 0-3 defeat to Acrington in the tinpot cup may have just set the cat amongst the pidgeons this being the first time the owners brother the clubs sporting director has been publicly challenged on his appaling recruitment stratergy which mainy consists of unheard of juorneymen from french and belgian 3 & 4 th division teams who would be hard pressed to catch many a sunday league pub team .but for the pure luck of catching David Wheater in the fallout from the Bolton debacle we would be in serious trouble as he holds the team together

Forever Bury Statement 14/10/2019

 

We regret to inform the supporters of Bury Football Club that the interested party who has been working with Forever Bury on a proposed bid to buy the club has confirmed this is no longer a viable prospect for them.

 

As matters have unfolded and the necessary due diligence has been undertaken, the complex, complicated and financially distressed situation at Bury Football Club has resulted in their decision to stand back from further discussions.

 

Resulting from this news, Forever Bury will not now be putting forward a legal defence against the HMRC winding up petition on Wednesday 16th October 2019, as we believe there is no longer adequate evidence to suggest a meaningful case could be made.

 

We will update you further as developments unfold.

The end for this version of Bury FC, probably. New club next season in North West Counties one, sharing at Radcliffe, for my money. Gigg Lane is done as a football venue, as it would surely be sold to realise its value as part of the liquidation

That isn't the same Bulgaria who's FA chief took offence to suggestions that (a) sections of his country's supporters may be a bit racist and (b) not a lot is being done about it?

 

No country is perfect in this regard, there are often reports of racist chanting at matches in the UK, but until real action is taken, with real punishment, then I cannot see much changing. If they (FIFA/UEFA)  start kicking teams out major competitions because of this, then something may get done.

 

Sadly we have a governing body who fined a player more for wearing underwear sponsored by a non-authorised sponsor, than they did a club for persistent racist chanting.

I am glad to see that England gave the racist scum a lesson by thrashing Bulgaria 6-0.

 

Let us hope now that the toothless football authorities can give Bulgaria a severe penalty for the activities of their lowlife ‘supporters’.

I see the Bulgarian manager didn't hear anything and says they don't have a problem. Evidently no one had told him why half the ground was closed for the game! I do feel sorry for genuine Bulgarian supporters as it was quite clearly a known group of neo Nazi's causing most of it that were there for that sole reason and were escorted out of the ground.

Both are breaches of the rules and the latter one is a threat to the sponsors money the FA rely on. From what I've seen the clubs do as much as they can (banning, etc.) when someone is caught. I would also add that I do believe that it is a lot worse in other European countries but much less is done than over here. Here it makes the headlines in the Press and so has to be dealt with, in many other countries it's just swept under the carpet. I'd rather the international bodies start dealing with it seriously in other parts of Europe where it is rife rather than just taking the easy option of punishing clubs/countries where it is already taken seriously. Just because you don't see anything in a country's press doesn't mean to say it's not there, it usually means that it is accepted as "acceptable behaviour" by the Powers that be.

 

As a few people still do it in this country it would appear that a threat of a ban (which seems to be the UK "solution") isn't working so perhaps the proper Courts need to start getting involved, after all they seem to have plenty of time to deal with things which don't concern them or even more trivial stuff they should have time to start meting our some proper punishment to these "people"... A very balanced reaction this morning from the Education Officer of Kick It Out on Sky News (Sorry, I don't remember his name, but watch out for him as either a future senior journalist or politician - a really polished performer). He rightly pointed out that the majority of these "racists" are probably nothing of the sort. It is just the culture in many countries (as it used to be here) to wind up the opposition in any way possible to stop them playing at their best. That does not, of course, make it in any way acceptable behaviour and UEFA do need to take appropriate action.

 

But, as Steve said, the England team gave it the best answer. A 0-6 thrashing at home should be punishment enough. I can't help wondering whether all the trouble around these few "supporters" may not have had more negative impact on the Bulgarians' performance than the English.

To clarify, I meant FIFA/UEFA who fined a player (Bentner?) for his unauthorised keks more than a team (in Croatia I believe) for persistent racist chanting.

 

We do take it more seriously in the UK than some other countries, but the only way the make clubs and associations take it seriously are with proper sanctions. Bulgaria have been found to be consistently wanting in this regard, and the outburst from the FA chief (who apparently has had his resignation demanded by the county's Prime Minister) suggests not a lot is going to change. Disqualification from Euro 2020 qualifiers would certainly clarify minds at their FA.

 

UEFA seem to be in a state of perpetual inertia around this, maybe hoping it will just go away. It won't.

one wonders if the rasist chanting was coming from a large section of England supportees at wembley and the FA were seen tobe doing little or nothing how quickly sanctions would be taken against the English FA

Ejecting Bulgaria from Euro 2020 qualifying would be pointless now as they only have one game left and are not going to get through anyway ! Plus it would remove from the records the performances, and goals, of the other teams in the group. Banning them from, say, the 2022 World Cup AND 2024 Euro qualifying, on the other hand, would certainly make them (and others) take notice.

Yes. But the Italian fans also should have been banned as they actually started it and it wasn't Liverpool fans firing pistols at police and stabbing people. Worth reading the actual facts rather than lies perpetuated by the press.

 

Scottish fans were banned at one point as well so we can't just blame the English/Liverpool. It's also pathetic that Everton fans criticise Liverpool when the previous week their fans were having running battles in Rotterdam. There was also Man United fans nearly sinking a ferry whilst fighting with West Ham. Tottenham fans getting shot in bars after fighting. Leeds fans fighting in Turkey and two of them dying.
