Fairburn
Morning, Taken advantage over the weekend of the cold weather and being semi housebound due to the snow (dog walks aside), to plough on with the laying of track for a little loco depot 'plank' type layout. Plan on using mostly proprietary RTP items - Bachmann servicing shed / Hornby retaining walls to create a little fuelling / stabling point. Backscene in low relief include an already decorated Ten Commandments 'railway workshop' pack bought at Wigan last week. Loco stock ranges from 03 / 08 shunters, a couple of 25's, 37's, 47's, 50's & a 57. More 37's & a 57 on the way due to special editions from the usual suspects of Rail Exclusive and Kernow and the Class 37 Group 37 003. Only 3 lines - a fiddle yard access / egress capable of taking one loco leading to a point and tanker discharge road. Point also leads to facing 3 way point and fuel road nr. 1. This feeds as a headshunt into servicing shed road nr. 1 and via a second point to road nr. 2, which then acts as a headshunt to fuel road nr. 2 - highly improbable in real life, but works in terms of loco movements. The setting is a former coal yard which was re-configured in the early 60's to deal with the fuelling and light servicing of mainline locos from a nearby yard and also maintain a small fleet of shunters. Periods modelled, mood dependent, will be BR late 70's & early 80's blue / mid eighties LL blue / Sectorisation and finally up to date with DRS / EWS / WCRC 37's or FGW 57's. Depending upon how successful the project turns out, the fiddle road may well be extended to a second plank of the same size, thereby allowing a small freight facility and the shuffling of one or two wagons and bogie parcels / newspaper stock.
