I wonder if they are related. They're TEA tankers, as above. They are pretty similar, but are non-internationally registered, and have quite a distinctive shape. Someone will be along soon to give the full details I'm sure!

It's the ones directly behind the loco I am talking about, which are like two half tanks tilted into each other with the tops sloping towards the centre, rather than the ones on your pic which look like the create the same effect at the bottom whilst keeping the top level by increasing diameter towards the middle.

Ah I think they are ICAs actually, owned by ermewa. They may have been a later build, but would probably have been used in clay traffic before. Calcium carbonate out of Aberdeen was carried in JGA wagons out of guild street before Waterloo reopened.

Mol_PMB
70801 arrives at Weaste on 16th February Running round alongside the Manchester Ship Canal: This was the first train over the Weaste branch for 5 years, after a fair bit of track maintenance and vegetation clearance. Two more were scheduled in the past week but the paths have not been used. I believe this trial run had some delays and problems both on the railway ops side and the unloading equipment. The routing via Standedge and the run-round at Eccles need precious paths on these busy routes. This week cement deliveries have reverted to ship-borne Irish cement: Will there be more trains, I wonder?

Comment on another forum suggests that there is 5 year contract in place for deliveries by rail, which is good news. Worth bearing in mind though that the frequency of deliveries will be based on the needs of the customer. It runs when it runs, so keeping a watchful on the schedule is probably the best approach. Jamie It ran loaded starting on 14th February as 6M53 21.25 Oxwellmains to Weaste (07.36). It arrived at its destination on the 15th, a little late. The return run on 15th February, 6S64, 16.07 Weaste to Oxwellmains (01.23), left late but arrived early at Oxwellmains. This has been the only run to date. Mol_PMB
It came from Oxwellmains (Scotland). It arrived at Eccles an hour early, but lost two hours running round. There were some delays with unloading which is one reason it set off about an hour and a half late on the way back. In 2020 Premier at Weaste received 34 ship loads of cement, typically around 4000 tonnes each. Assuming a full train is 16 bogies with 80 tonnes in each, that's 1280 tonnes. You would need two trains a week to deliver the same quantity in a year. Regards, Mol Edited February 28, 2021 by Mol_PMB
