Wummyock
Looks great!Any chance of a track plan?I tried to look at the old link but it wont work for me.it looks like the sort of layout Im considering building in the shed when its constructed. What dimensions are the layout? Was wondering how you go down to the hidden sidings is it via helix's?What gap do you have between levels with the hidden sidings?Do you have any trouble with access for derailments? D1013
I will upload a track plan shortly. There have been some minor amendments to the original plan to enable the Goodrington Sands sidings to a lower level to improve access. The shed is 20 x 12 and other than narrow access corridors the layout fills the shed! The Exeter and Plymouth storage sidings under the sea wall boards are accessed by long running loops under the main station board and the lower Plymouth sidings accessed through Dainton Bank running down the middle of the shed. Other than the cross over for Aller Junction under the Hackney yard sidings and one hidden point for the access to the Paignton branch all other track is plain line and fixed track medium and large curves have been used to ensure no heat/cold related problems with track distortion. The gap between the two storage sidings is circa 6 inches which requires fixed formation trains and I have recently installed turntables at tne end of both to enable detailing of engines at one end. Hope this is helpful. I've included some more pictures mainly of the track underneath the boards to give an idea of how it works. Installing point motors at west Newton Abbot Single line access to Goodrington Sidings, this was a later addition that does not appear on the track plan and is single line due to space Levels between two carriage sidings which are spotlit Access into the sidings Ballasting at west Newton Abbot 3 sets of Lines here the furthest is the single line to Goodrington, the middle two lines go from Aller Junction to Dainton Bank and the closest set go from Sea wall scene to Exeter sidings. This is the same lines looking in the other direction, note that the board at the back of the picture is the Goodrington scene
Wummyock
Cheers D1013 that has answered my queries. What sort of area do you have for operating in the aisles?Would you have preferred more vertical space in the storage yards?
