fezza
I don't fully understand the CAD process, but whether you are working from a laser scan or old fashioned line drawings, you would sure notice the discrepancies? They were so glaring most people on here spotted them by sight - and without even getting out a tape measure or referring to a drawing. It is a real mystery. Have Dapol ever officially commented on it? I see some people on here have suggested was a deliberate decision to make the model more robust or perhaps hide the motor and wiring? Carl
If they did comment on it, it would only be to say it didn’t photograph well, it looks right in person, and is to the measurements on the official guide.
1977joey
Hi Everyone, I just wondered if the cab end couplings have NEM pockets on these units? If so I might be tempted to get a couple of provincial ones to run with Farish my Class 150s ... Cheers, Mark Edited June 27, 2021 by 1977joey

Although they will run together, the 142 is slightly slower than the 150. Here they are running together. I have the Dapol easy shunts on the outer ends of My 150's so wonder how they might go, I can but try. Cheers, Mark
Chris M
The new batch are in the shops and I picked up mine yesterday. This model has copped a fair amount of criticism but I rather like it. For my eyes it captures the look of the real thing quite well and I'm not the least bit worried about the lack of interior in such a small model; I can never see into my trains as they go by anyway. My only grumble about the look of it is that the rivet details are heavier than I would like when you are close to it. I guess that's a tricky one to get right because it looks fine from normal viewing distance in N gauge. My new one ran smoothly and quite quietly straight out of the box. I was a bit surprised by the brown roof but going from photos it does seem that they were indeed brown. I need to do a bit of running in today and then add frame dirt to the bottom and just a thin translucent coat of weathered black to the roof. Then she'll be good to take her place with the rest of my 1980s stock. Once again I'm a happy Dapol customer enjoying the hobby .

RMweb Gold Adam1701D Posted October 19, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 19, 2021 From the pictures I've seen of the new batch of Pacers and the LNER NRM HST, it looks like the Intercity Sleeper is an unfortunate glitch. I have a soft spot for the Dapol 142 and would love to see the 143/144 at some point.

The brown roof should actually come down to the next rib, cantrail height, just above the doors.
RMweb Premium MrSimon Posted October 26, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 26, 2021 Hi all, My Merseyrail one came this morning: It needs a little weathering below the body but I’m happy with it… only thing to change is the destination (does anyone do replacement transfers?) Many thanks Simon
Chris M
Mine has now been weathered. I’m happy with my very light weathering- slightly toned down the roof brown and added frame dirt to the chassis and tumblehome. For me it makes all the difference but I guess most folk wouldn’t notice. Before After 6

Presumably an alternative destination (or two?) in the dot matrix style? Like this from Flickr: It looks like Dapol have printed the destination window the wrong shape (should be rectangular) but that's easy enough to sort with a rectangular decal. It wouldn't take long to knock up, lead time would be a few weeks waiting for my next sheet of custom decals to be full and sent to print. If you (or anyone else) would like to discuss any ideas, drop me an email to steadfastmodels@outlook.com we can talk measurements and I'll see what I can do. Many thanks Simon Why do Dapol always seem to make small livery errors? The cab roof colour does not extend down the sides of the cab as far as it should. The cantrail stripe should then step up when it meets the white, not before. Frustrating. Roy
RMweb Premium Steven B Posted October 27, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 27, 2021 +1 for alternative destination blinds - I need some Greater Manchester ones for my Skipper. The Provincial Light Blue, WR Skipper and GMPTE Orange ones all have the later OHLE warning signs (i.e. post 1997 yellow triangle). A small detail but something else to add to my to-do list...
