Modelzone Limited Editions

the 20 selling out really doesnt surprise me.

the vans are overrated for the price but i remember when i first started up a few years ago i was buying all the different releases so that I had different running numbers on the fleet.  Ive since found confidence to remove numbers and renumber and weather so i dare say lots of new modellers prefer to take them out of the box and not have to change anything, at least until like me they find their modelling mojo.

That said i never bought any twin packs from MZ at new retail - i bought my packs on ebay for around £35-45 saving about £15-20 on new.  thats the best way to do it if your actually going to play trains with them so they dont need to be kept "mint" but then every now and again a model does come along where you risk never getting one at a reasonable price if like RTC "Wren" Mk1 ex-Pullman coach they sell out fast then acquire a real collectors price tag secondhand.

Just ordered Starlet £53.99 with free postage , the one off class 47 reduced by £25,railbus by £20 still expensive for a model with so many differences to the real Loco.

Hi MAte

About time MZ dropped there prices on some of their Limited Editions... Makes you wonder how much they are still making if they can drop it £20...

The sale price doesn't necessarily reflect the cost to them, as cashflow is a key component of running a business. Some of the LEs sell straight out, others take a while, and some hang around to get marked down as they'd rather get the money in than have 'em on the shelf

The Birmingham branch is still (not?) selling the Hornby LE 1948 Olympic set at full RRP (even Hornby reduced it!)

Thanks to Poindexter for the heads up on the reduced items.

I've had my eyes on the Charringtons TTA set for some time. Called at Metro Centre today, they seemed unaware of reductions, but agreed to sell at sale price.

Very nice factory weathering and good value at reduced price , and TTAs now have coupling pockets at correct height to fit Kadees.

Should look great on my new layout.

I think that they're web-only offers but as you have found, haggling is always worth a try!

Has anyone though of adding the Hornby 2-BIL to this thread?

Oh Matron!

Just announced by ModelZone, exclusive tooling for the Mk.1 CCT and BPOT

ModelZone are pleased to announce two much requested items of OO Gauge
rolling stock, produced exclusively for us by Bachmann Europe PLC. These
exciting items, made from brand new tooling, will be available next year.

The BR Mk1 CCT is a much requested van, which was a common sight on the
railway network. Used primarily for parcels traffic, many survived long
after their parcel carrying days had ended in departmental service. We will
be producing 6 liveries spanning much of their life, in both revenue and
departmental service, which are due for release during 2014.

BR MK1 Post Office Brake Stowage Van
After our previously commissioned and very successful Mk1 TPO, there were
calls for another, different, postal vehicle help recreate the TPO train in
their heyday, so we now proudly announce a model of the BR Mk1 Brake Stowage
Van. Due to the need for Guards accommodation on trains formed only of Post
Office stock, a small batch of Stowage Vans were built with Guards
facilities, which avoided the need to use passenger coaching stock. The
vehicles were introduced in 1968, to diagram 733, in BR Blue and Grey
livery, adopting both versions of the Royal Mail red in later years, before
withdrawal in 2003/4.

Some vehicles have since been preserved, including 80458, which is preserved
in 1960’s Post Office Red on the Great Central Railway, by Railway Vehicle
Preservations Ltd, (RVP) who were formed over 40 years ago to preserve
historic items of railway rolling stock. Currently they have a collection of
LNER coaches, and various TPO vehicles.

We will be producing 4 liveries, including 80458 as preserved on the Great
Central Rly.
39-440Z Stowage Van 1960’s (BPOT) BR PO Red (preserved)
39-440Y Stowage Van 1970’s (NUX) BR Blue/Grey
39-440X Stowage Van 1980’s (NUX) Royal Mail (early cypher)

RRP £39.99, expected to be available during 2014

and online www.modelzone.co.uk and will be available during 2014. Pre
Ordering of these highly sought after items is strongly advised, to avoid
disappointment.

Oh aye, the postal is a given.  What was once in the 'nice to have' category is now firmly on the agenda, thanks to Bachmann (and MZ).  Some very pretty rakes behind BRCW traction coming up at my place....

Yes the PO Stowage van is a general release

MZ are doing the BPOT (Brake Stowage Van). This enables a complete rake of TPO vehicles without the need to include a BG.

It ranked quite well in the RMWeb/Mremag poll, so that was quick.

Very pleased with this announcement. Not available on their website yet though...

Just casually looking through the Modelzone website it appears that you can no longer preorder the two FGW neon Mk3 TSOs. Anyone have any idea why? You can still preorder the TFO.

Maybe they have all been pre-ordered ?
