RMweb Gold The Johnster Posted April 2, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted April 2, 2020 Makes sense. A down pilot at Reading faces west, so a cab is exposed to easterly weather unless the tender front is high enough to provide shelter, which a mogul’s isn’t. Easterly winds, sometimes originating in Siberia and, as an Old Oak old timer guard who relieved me at Swindon one cold night said, ‘strite orf the perishin’ urinals, mite’, are usually cold and penetrating. I imagine the weather sheets were used less on the up pilot. Westerlies are more common, and often bring rain, but are warmer.
