I saw this at the Woking exhibition today. An excellent layout , I went away quite inspired to plan something in 'n'. Surely 2mm stock should be half the price of 4mm.........right? Looking forward to seeing the layout again soon.

Eastleigh it is then Dave.

We had a very good weekend at the show with lots of interest in the layout. We did have to explain that Banbury was round the corner and down some stairs (which confused a few people). We discussed  with some of the Banbury team that we should co-ordinate some trains so that a train left us going north and then "appeared" on Banbury from the south.

We also had several junior "assistants" having a go at the controls, all of whom picked up the controls quickly and enjoyed a few minutes behind the scenes.  Hopefully they too will be inspired for the future.

Many thanks to the REC for inviting us and looking after us during the show.

Cheers,

Dave

We had a long, but good day out at RISEX yesterday.  A very early start to get there to set up at 7:30am, fortunately almost everyone's alarms worked.

A very nice, small, but high-quality show with layouts in a variety of scale and gauges. As Hinksey is not too far away, we had a lot of interesting comments from people who know the prototype location well.

Once again we had a number of young "trainee" operators and we are now thinking of getting some certificates printed for them to take away.  I only managed one photo (which shows a crowd in front of the layout):

A strange electrical issue developed late in the afternoon, possible due to a push-button failure, which we now need to investigate. Hopefully, it will be reproducible (and easily fixed) back in the club room.

Cheers,

Dave

The GCR show is an excellent weekend but do take some plastic sheeting to cover the layout as the first time we exhibited it was wet with a small leak above us so we covered the layout over the pelmet and glad we did. No issues the following year though.

Have great weekend.
