millerhillboy
nice work, I always think the WR signal boxs are strong part of the lines identity and this will certainly fit the bill.

RMweb Premium coronach Posted December 26, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 26, 2020 (edited) Windows are in and the interior fitted. The signalman has been disturbed from his paper and is ‘pegging’ line clear to Whitrope SB for the next down train. The dishcloth is drying in the window after the washing up. Just need a roof on to keep him dry Edited April 17, 2023 by coronach

lmsforever
Signal box looks very good, today I dug out a box I bought a long time ago its a scottish type so fits on my layout managed to spend a few hours repainting and adding bits so a good afternoon. The layout is looking good and interesting to watch keep up the updates.
RMweb Premium coronach Posted December 28, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 28, 2020 (edited) Got the roof on today. Tomorrow I will complete the chimney and add the drainpipe detail. The new signal box is much larger than the previous one but fits the layout on the same footprint ( I hope!!!) RMweb Premium coronach Posted December 29, 2020 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted December 29, 2020 Complete. I hope it fits ! The original signal box was a temporary version constructed using my model of Lambley SB as a basis - from the previous layout Lambley and Alston. I will need to construct a privy for the signalman.
RMweb Premium coronach Posted January 12, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) I have installed Slitrigg signal box, which just needed a little trimming of the embankment. I will need to adjust the fencing and think about whether the signalman is expected to use the ‘facilities’ at the station I’ve also installed ‘Brandy’ the shire horse patiently waiting with his dray. RMweb Premium coronach Posted January 17, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 17, 2021 I’ve started work on upgrading a ‘bargain’ Bachmann Crab using the Brassmasters upgrade pack, starting with the tender. This will keep me busy for a bit. FB also reminded me of a photo from three years ago when I first ran the D30.
RMweb Premium coronach Posted January 23, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 23, 2021 Further progress on the tender, which is now ready for painting. Photos always show up issues though - I need to find the missing tender buffer !
RMweb Premium coronach Posted January 24, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 24, 2021 (edited) Weathered and coaled. I’ve ordered replacement LMS buffers for the loco - although the Brassmasters instructions suggest the existing buffers can be removed and fitted to a replacement buffer beam, they won’t shift. I will need to be patient until they arrive in the post so I can complete the loco next weekend Edited April 17, 2023 by coronach
RMweb Premium coronach Posted January 31, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted January 31, 2021 (edited) Crab 42783 is being prepared for service. A Bachmann LMS bargain from Rails of Sheffield with added parts from the Brassmasters detailing kit, a full repaint and heavy weathering - someone will get into trouble about allowing the smoke box to get so rusty - Needs a crew before it is given a run. Someone has cleaned the grime off the cab side number. These locos certainly have a muscular look about them. I have a film somewhere of one on a freight on the Waverley Route having to stop at Steele Road for a blow up. RMweb Premium coronach Posted February 4, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted February 4, 2021 (edited) Well the crab runs well - lacked a little adhesion on the climb so assistance from the J36 was needed as far as Whitrope summit. The wagon bearings need lubricating, which should help. There is not much free space in the boiler for added weight. All in all, I am very pleased with the engine - it is just trundling round light engine atm to give it a running in Edited April 17, 2023 by coronach
RMweb Premium coronach Posted May 18, 2021 Author RMweb Premium Share Posted May 18, 2021 (edited) It’s been a long time since my last post - other things taking up my time. However here are a couple of shots of a classic 1960 border country branch line train comprising an Ivatt 2MT plus Mk1 BCK - as small a steam hauled train as you can get including two classes of travel. Probably more train crew than passengers ! edit - just noticed the station masters house gate has fallen off its hinges - also there are no loco lamps Edited April 17, 2023 by coronach
