Norm81
It's a bit spooky this has appeared in my recent topics, as I'm considering fitting the speakers in the tanks of my 37's and also rewiring the cab and rear lights for independent use without the switches! Lots of useful info for me here.

bescotbeast
I must say, this thread is prompting me to look at my own sound fitted 37's, with a view to following what's gone on here.
bescotbeast
Well here is the proof that this thread is encouraging and easy, i picked up the tools on Sunday and added a bass reflex speaker to my Class 37/9 37905 Bass reflex by Simon Barnes, on Flickr
kevpeo
NIce job Simon, they do sound nice in both versions of the 37/9's. Glad to see the thread is still useful. Kev.
RMweb Gold Revolution Mike B Posted August 19, 2016 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 19, 2016 I used this thread to do both of my 37/4s. Made things very clear and simple!
Gilloverland
Sorry to drag up and old thread but would a sugarcane under the fan and a bass reflex in the tanks (in parallel) provide the best of both worlds?
RMweb Premium boxbrownie Posted February 10, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted February 10, 2017 Sorry to drag up and old thread but would a sugarcane under the fan and a bass reflex in the tanks (in parallel) provide the best of both worlds? Might make it both sweet and bassy then

Albie the plumber
Sorry to drag up and old thread but would a sugarcane under the fan and a bass reflex in the tanks (in parallel) provide the best of both worlds? The short answer is yes . Most of my 37s' have a base reflex in the tanks, 1 of them has a bass reflex and a normal 20x40 under the fan grille. The 20x40 seems to exploit the higher pitched sounds , e.g. guards whistle . That particular sound sounds somewhat muffled with a single bass reflex . Also a good use of the standard speaker that comes with the loksound , better to incorporate it than throw it away.

Gilloverland
Does any one know if the latest Bachmann 37s have a different wiring set-up? I've followed the 'red gate models' posts to the letter and got directionall cab lights that go out when it moves but at one end I have no tail lights or marker lights? Edit - for anyone else who finds this thread, the settings are indeed correct, just make sure that the contacts which spring down on to the pub pads at each end are making good contact - after a lot of head scratching, this turned out to be the problem! bescotbeast
This is my own remedy for nose lights that don't work after you have done this work, i build the contact strips up with a blob of solder increasing the chance of the brass tab making contact. It's worked on every loco that I was having issues with so far. Bachmann Class 37 nose lights by Simon Barnes, on Flickr
RMweb Gold Dougjuk Posted February 28, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 28, 2017 if you add another speaker in the roof I assume it has to be wired in series. Doug
Albie the plumber
if you add another speaker in the roof I assume it has to be wired in series. Doug If they are both 4ohm speakers , then the answer is yes
