shortliner
yeah thats the site I come across from the link, is there any other threads about this layout on rmweb? Michael - Not based on that particular yard and not a perfect copy, but based on one of the very smallest yards there was my entry for the RMweb Challenge http://www.rmweb.co....ners-shortline/ and this one which is possibly a slightly more accurate version http://www.carendt.u...103a/index.html More on that one appears here http://harlem-statio...&max-results=10 There is also this http://translate.goo...-OPERATIONS.htm There was/is a rather nice model of the Fulton Terminal that was in 2 issues of CM and is here http://translate.goo...-OPERATIONS.htm about a quarter of the way down the page There is also this group http://groups.yahoo..../railmarineops/ be advised it sometimes takes a while to be approved, and all postings are moderated and another idea based on the original Harlem Yard is here near the bottom of the page http://www.carendt.u...e104/index.html And one more (a Micro-layout) - http://www.frankenmodell.de/nyharborbelt.html - which now lives in Switzerland
Michael Delamar
cheers shortliner , I remember your layout. Ive seen many US layouts over the years, Ive not took a huge amount of interest in them because I had nothing to relate too, ie not seeing many protoype pics or clips, but Longers pics and the others on that link make it a lot more interesting Mike
jasond
Hi Ian Good to hear from you. I'm in Morecambe, Lancashire these days still importing US stuff as Quince Valley Designs. Do you know Chris Iveson who acquired some of Wyandotte? He's over the other side of the Pennines from me. I host US Open Days at the Morecambe Club (www.mandhmrc.com) and regularly attend the North Wales N American days at Llanbedr near Wrexham. Give me a shout if you're on the M6 passing Lancaster and need a break, we're 10 mins from the motorway. Don't forget the Winchester Meet next October as well (www.winchestermeet.info). Longers
Hi Jason! No, I don't know Chris. Is Wyandotte still going...? I know Robin rebuilt some of the already rebuilt bits before he sold it, if the layout still exists it must be getting a bit like Trigger's broom!! I think the last time I saw you was at Winchester several years ago just after you'd moved. I think you said you were in the process of building a new layout? Any pics available? 8/10/11 is in the diary, not sure if I'll be able to get there but will try Cheers, Longers
Michael Delamar
Hi Longers do you have a plan of your layout also interested to see how the curved line between the buildings can be incorporated cheers Mike
Longers
Hi Mike, sorry for delay in replying, I've not been near a PC for over a week... There is a link to my proposed plan in the first post of this topic. As for the curve, I'd propose a corner board with a point so there is a spur running along the front to a warehouse and the "main" curving behind it to some storage tracks. TEAMYAKIMA
Just for the record, I was one of two original builders of Wyandotte Transfer - the other was the late Alan Day. My next project was the ON30 YAKIMA VALLEY The next was the ON3 ECHOES OF THE BLACK CANYON My latest is a China Rail HO layout under construction.... you can follow progress on Rmweb in the overseas modelling section.
