In the third picture the slope sided mineral is branded "TSGB" for internal use only".

Not bad as Scottish Gas Board gaffs go;

A few 16 tonners in this view along side the tar tanks and AB's.

Clearly a model, second  radius curves and the matchbox car looks out of place too!

(Actually, I wonder if that scene could be modelled on a 4ft by 8ft base board?)

Just a nudge back to the front page for this thread, with a couple of dull images of an actual wagon, albeit in departmental use:

‘Livery’ seems to be rust, but with an triangle on the door.  I’ve tried to make out the lettering but failed.  However, given the location (on the Liverpool Street – Cambridge route; ‘West Anglia’ in today’s parlance) I suspect something to do with the Divisional Civil Engineers yard at Leyton.

Amazing what you can pick up at that Meadow Hall centre, isn't it...

I had a friend pick up a rather nasty disease there. That taught him; he never did any picking up there again!

As a 7 or 8 year old, I remember the cranes at Ardrossan Harbour lifting 16t minerals in a cradle, slewing, then tipping the wagons into the hold of a ship.

The ship was in the tidal harbour, just to the left of the jetty in the centre of this map view. The crane is marked on the map

Fascinating to a youngster.
