Interesting mix, I would have expected far more IM Immingham aclass 20's and less 37's. Was it different around 1978 when I guess I must have made most of my visits? JeffP
We always seemed to get a few 37's, but later started to see pairs of 20's. Those two above were not coupled together.

Tony Hi Tony, Am more or less positive that No. 20 was on display at the depot,to back this up I remember seeing a picture either in a magazine or somewhere on this esteemed site of the loco on display. I wonder if I did see 1508,or was it a slip of the pen... Neil

RMweb Gold rodent279 Posted July 28, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 28, 2018 (edited) 28th July, 1984. 25279+325 work the 0730 Euston- Aberystwyth, the legendary "Abers", in their last summer of booked type 2 haulage, seen here at Shrewsbury. About 30min later, the pair are seen leaving Welshpool. This scene is now completely changed, with the signal gone, bridge rebuilt and line slewed to the right, and a bypass running through where the train is. Later the same day, 31135, unique with it's yellow end extended around the cab side windows, was stabled in Nuneaton station, at 2030. RMweb Premium melmerby Posted July 30, 2018 RMweb Premium Share Posted July 30, 2018 (edited) I wonder what the Black 5 & rather leaky Class 4 2-6-0 were doing on the Paddington to Birkenhead? Surely it would be a diesel by that time? Cheers Keith EDIT Delving deeper I found that after it became LMR territory the locos were anything from class 47, to Black 5 and anything else that would run! RMweb Gold phil_sutters Posted August 25, 2018 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 25, 2018 (edited) More gadding about in August - sorry he didn't make it to Ireland. The Scottish photo was taken at Arbroath. Between 29th July and 26th August 1952 we were on holiday in Monifieth. Including the journeys fom Ripon and back Dad filled 54 pages of his spotting logbook. With upto 24 lines / entries per page that is approaching 1300 recorded loco sightings. Obviously some are seen more than once during the holiday and he did visit several sheds, but there are whole pages of Monifieth, Dundee, Perth and Edinburgh. jonny777
38 years ago today, I spent a couple of hours near Ashford station. SWMBO used to go shopping while I parked the car as close as possible to the line (the car park was next to the cattle market) and just watched trains go by. The refurbishment programme on the 411s were just beginning and so there are a few renumbered ones, which in those early days carried the full 6-figure unit number on the cab fronts. 19th September 1980. 6155 6107 7118 33202 6097 7889 7115 7179 7021 411602 7015 7136 68005 7152 7101 7019 411509 68003 6152 7854 511508 7112 7209 7176 7765 6131 6102 6116 6075 7186 7200 7189 7868 7780 68010 7147 7893 411507 7146 6105 6161 7153 7022 7164 7858 7867 33063
