Information

 

 

The SKRC was established to provide a place where railway and transport enthusiasts could meet and share their common interest and experiences. It is run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts. We meet every other week from 19.30 to 22.30 on Mondays, excepting Holiday’s, wherein members and visitors enjoy regular social meetings, slide shows, films, photographs and lectures.There are regular outdoor excursions arranged by the membership to various transport themed locations and events around the UK, usually at weekends. An advanced timetable of events is available on the Poynton Youth and Community Centre website. Suggestions for new lecture/film materials or excursions are always welcomed so as to ensure SKRC remains interesting to all.

 

 

 

Membership is open to all ages (Junior’s less than 18 years of age must be accompanied bya parent or guardian- max 2 per adult). Mugs of Tea and coffee are available form the centre kitchen (usually around 8.15pm) and there's a licensed bar also.

 

 

 

Subscriptions-

 

Adult annual membership- £12.00 (payable in advance)

 

Junior annual membership £1.00 “

 

Adult attendance fee - per session £1.50 (payable on the night)

 

Junior attendance fee – per session £0.50 “

 

 

 

For those wishing to reduce administrations an advanced annual attendance payment is available at Adult- £55.00 Junior £13.00 A saving of around £8.00 per attendee/per annum.

 

 

 

Visitors pay £2.50 per session (max 3 visits) after which membership is required to attend.

 

 

 

All equipment is provided, so all you need to bring is a smile and your experiences, models, films, photographs, memorabilia and enthusiasm to be ensured of an enjoyable evening’s entertainment.

The above post is an advanced notice of the groups formation, the first meeting proper will be in late June/July 2011. (date TBC)

 

I have had a good response so far from people in the NE Cheshire and South Manchester areas and applications are now being taken.

 

Interested parties can contact me through this thread, via which I will also post the meeting agendas as and when concluded.

Format 7.30- 8.45- an informal get together and completion of applications / payment of subscriptions.

 

8.45- 10.15- viewing of a 'classic railway enthusiasts film'

 

Tea/coffee and licensed bar
