Trains4U Open Day 2011 - Pictures Added

Just got back. A splendid exhibition (cos' that's what it was) with free entrance AND tea and munchies. A very big thank you to Gareth and all the helpers. Not all the customers were very nice to the ladies on the tills, I hope they weren't RMWebbers.

So, I found the weathered Ivatt prairie and the Lima green bubblecar that I've been looking for, and at a good price. Made up some gaps in my Railway Modeller collection for free AND managed not to back the van into the tree this year!!!

Again, many thanks to all

Ed

Thanks Gareth and the team!

What a great day as per last year.

Very well looked after and the food as usual was amazing.

Very busy as usual, Thomas and James got hammered round the layout.

I still haven't worked out why they need to run at full speed backwards :unknw_mini:

A great day with great kids who really enjoyed playing trains.

This "Open Day" is better than some exhibitions!

Cheers

Ian

Pictures - as requested!

They aren't great, and were taken after things had slowed down a little.

Sadly one of the layouts did not show, but we still had a really good day, with lots of people through the door.

We manged to raise over £150 for Help for Heroes.

Joanne was trusted with the traction engine - driving around the car park, narrowly avoiding pedestrians, traffic, parked cars, hedges and buildings...

Which was opposite the largest, the well stocked Runswick Leamside, which drew a good audience all day.

Even I had a chance to play for an hour or so.

Ian's (Traction) Thomas Layout was very popular (I only managed to collide trains 3 times)

We manged to raise over £150 for Help for Heroes.

Congratulations, particularly on that.

Too far "up north" for me but would have loved to have attended. Looks like there was plenty of interesting layouts to see.

Always thought this was a brilliant idea and do hope it was worth your while in putting on this event.

Well done Gareth, another success for you, especially the funds raised for charity.

I will make sure that I book that weekend with work, as soon as the new fiscal year arrives in April, which is when our leave runs from and to. I don't want to miss out again!

I know Mike has said that he will come over between now and Christmas for a day of running Leamside, as he to missed being there this weekend.

cheers mate

Andy

Hi, no not yet!

I need to take some more photos and send them with a write up to Richard.

I've just been really busy and working away from home alot, which is a bit of a nightmare.

I will let you know once I've got the photos sorted out and sent off and any replies I get back.

Cheers

Ian
