n gauge outdoor railway

Recommended Posts

As i sit in the garden basking in some surprise sunshine recovering from a terrible dose of chickenpox,it dawned on me a question that i always wanted clarified. Is there any reason set in stone why a garden railway of various sizes could not be built in N gauge. As an n gauger i would be keen to use the stock i have accumulated over the past 10 years and not have to sideline funds to a OO project.Again on the other hand Sound has taken OO to new levels and i do admire some of the newer diesels.Every magazine ive read mentions 1,O & OO but never N....Just Curious

The main problem with N in the garden is the stuff that falls on the track. Bird poo takes on the proportions of a landslip, twigs are trees on the line and that's without the prehistoric giant flying birds, mammals and reptiles that may be skulking just out of sight and attack your train as it passes.

Apart from that it has been done but requires a lot of cleaning before each run.
