Sadly a Scania is now THE  average British truck. :(

Are we the only first world nation who does not produce its own trucks . ( I know there is a  bit of cottage industry with Dennis and a few others and also sticking together DAF 's in Leyland)

Vans to follow soon with Transit production being moved to Turkey.

Spain went first (unless Pegaso are still around)? Dennis are hanging in there (just) but struggling to think of any other british truck makers.

The water cooled version had an extra grill beneath the existing grill. To save hacking the dashboard about it is easier to swap them between the van and minibus, the minibus has the seating for left hand drive but a right hand drive dashboard. Another little tweak is you can make the offside door 'opening' just by adding a handle and hinge. (Loading doors on both sides was an option.) Back to the dashboards, I am leaving the dashboard I fitted into the minibus the brown colour as it contrasts nicely with the cream interior. I will be painting the dashboard of the van dark grey or black when I get a round tuit.

Re the Oxford Tricycle van:

Can anyone confirm what make of vehicle this is please? I have just purchased the Pickfords one (though due for repaint in plain black) and want to know what to enter it as on my database.

Several more unannounced models in 1/76 are coming from Oxford Diecast. At the Nuremberg Toy Fair the models Oxford Diecast displayed are in the link at post 127 above - photographs taken by Georg Hamel of Auto-und-Modell.

The first 2 rows of photos are 1/43 scale, and the first of the third row - the rest are 1/76. The Armstrong Siddeley Lancaster 4 door saloon in the third row of photos is not yet in OD's catalogue (not even its February to June 2013 listings), nor is the plain Austin J van in the third row from the foot.

Apparently some one brought these to Nuremberg direct from Oxford Diecast's factory in China, which explains why these (and the Bedford OW and OX) models were at Nuremberg but not at the London Toy Fair a few days earlier.

Got a feeling there are some truck plants in Spain maybe Iveco badged.

The only British truck plant is the Leyland plant making the smaller DAF LF models (up to 10 tonnes).

Plus Dennis in Warwick...

Also Leyland is equipped to make virtually all the models in the DAF range these days

Off topic but what I can gather on google -

Alexander Dennis stopped building fire engines in 2007 , a shame  so no one can buy a British Fire Appliance.

A spin off  company John Dennis still builds fire appliance bodywork  on foreign chassis.

That may mean Dennis Eagle dust carts are the only trucks manufactured in Britain as the Leyland Plant just assembles DAF from kits as far as I know.

Looking through the forthcoming Oxford releases on Hattons' website, there's one fairly left-field OO release that I'm very (pleasantly) surprised they've done- the BMC Mobile Training Unit

http://www.ehattons.com/60451/Oxford_Diecast_76BMC001_Mobile_Training_Unit_BMC_in_blue/StockDetail.aspx

For the uninitiated, these were built by BMC from the late 50's-mid60's, and toured BMC dealers providing training sessions for mechanics etc. There was a fair-sized fleet of these, not just in the UK, but also Australia, Canada, the US and Europe. One or two were used as support vehicles by the BMC rally teams, including one modified to a race transporter.

Quite an obscure vehicle to pick, but with a few livery variations to play with (some were modified to camper vans and even a mobile booking office for a coach company etc after being sold off)

Some prototype inspiration here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/brimen/collections/72157628964699533/
