PeterR
Hi, With wall to wall sun yesterday irt was time to add some more photos on my layout, so the camera was haled out, together with some stock and here are some of the results, A phot of my two Mason Bogies, the front one - in maroon, is scratchbuilt with the hellp of 'myLargescale.com' is named 'Como' and is D S P & P R R number 12, the other is an Accucraft one: both are different. I am in the middle of making another one which is of the larger design - that is a 2 8 6. Next a couple of photos of a repainted Bachmann loco to the colour is should have been - this also has sound. Taken on my trestle, which is the approach to a Howe Truss bridge. Another view of it approaching the station The loco has transfers by Stan Cedarleaf, and all the buildings are scratchbuilt. looking the other way - here is the station, and that track has quite a wave in it! Here is the depot, I needed to stand up to get it into the view, as D&RG 99 was in the way Here are a couple of photos of one of my 'specials' - this is in effect an American version of the F W Webb 'coupe' : myLargescale.com' did a masterclass on a 4 2 2 loco which was the first one of the Southern Pacific RR in California - C P Huntingdon'. I decided to modify it en rout to the loco anc coach as below. The parts are from Hartland Loco Works, and the coach is scratchbuilt, with a full interior ar can be seen. It does need some more transferrs which I have but have not yet fitted. and the interior with the coach body in front Finally back in the 1880's photography was a 'very new' and timw consuming thiong, and also due to very, very slow emulsions for pictures needed lots of light to expose them. The result was small buildings with huge windows to admit the light needed for the long exposures. Here is my version of such a 'Photo Gallery' - still needing its lettering but otherwise complete - they would be totally amazed at todays 'digital' cameras!!! That building behind is the other invention of the age - A 'Western Union' (telegraph) building, placed right by the side of the depot for salesman to telegraph their orders back to their employers. Enjoy.
James Hilton
Peter - some wonderful photos thank you for sharing them I edited your post as the links/photos weren't working so I copied them over from G-scale Central for you. Hope that's ok. I think the standard of the Accucraft locomotive compared to your version shows yours in a very good light indeed. It's also lovely to see models finished in a gloss finish, to hi-light just how clean alot of these locomotives seem to have been kept during their early lives! Great modelling.
