I have been catching up with some jobs I have been meaning to do on Leaford such as finishing of the yard in front of the "Kremlin" building.

That particular shot oozes atmosphere like none other I've seen recently. Great stuff.

Hi Pete, the only exhibition I can recall further west that Leaway Park attended was Weymouth (actually at Portland) but what year or much else about it I cannot remember, I do remember that I enjoyed myself though.

Best regards.

Kevin.

Looking good Kevin, that's quite a building. I was thinking today it must have been another layout, can't remember the name right now though. Something Mills.

Do you have any plans to build another exhibition layout or will Leaford be it for a while yet.

Cheers Peter.

Hi Pete, the building uses two modified American  "Centenial Mills"  Walthers kits, and as acknowledged previously on this thread the idea came from one of my favourite layouts Hull Miniature Railway Society's "Wintringham Haven" as featured in the June 2006 Railway Modeller, and as for building another exhibition layout - it is doubtful in the near future as I am happy with Leaford it keeps me occupied maintaining it, building new stuff for it, and just running it, it is nice to just turn it on - play trains - and then just turn it off and walk away when finished, incidently Pete what was the name of your layout that you exhibited back in the 80s and 90s?

Here is another picture of Leafords "Kremlin"

Hi Kevin,

They are a nice kit. I am sure Leaford will keep you busy it's quite a layout you have now so there will always be something for you to do.

Llanbourne did an exhibition at Brockenhurst in 93 -4  before I left for Oz. I used to help John run Hollybank and also helped design build and run Mossbank   so could have been any of those.

Cheers Peter.

Had a very enjoyable afternoon operating Leaford yesterday, and introduced a fellow modeller to the advantages of dcc operation. A big thanks to Kevin (Hampshire Hog) for a great time and hospitality.  There was lots of NSE services on the automatic passenger circuit (VEP, 4TC, Thumper, EPB and Bubble car DMU), quite topical as its 30 years since the start of NSE.

Many thanks to PaulRHB for the Transit van above, the skillfull modifications he has made to this van enable a superb set piece to be put together on Leaford which can only enhance the layout for which I am eternally grateful.

Best regards

Kevin.

Hi Kevin

Superb photos of the Car wagons...? are they the Standard Hornby wagons with MESH added to the sides, look effective as always from your Layout mate.

Great Van photo with the van Door Open, that's a nice treat to see, cant say I've seen many.

Excellent photos Kevin, look forward to more in the future.

Regards

Jamie

Hello Jamie, the end wagons of each Cartic 4 are indeed Hornby with slight modifications whereas the centre wagons are cut & shut Hornby, the mesh added to the sides is made from Evergreen plastic strip and net curtaining and each 4 car set takes 24 Oxford Diecast Capri's and Escort's, as can be seen I have recently purchased a second set and have the need for some more plastic strip and net curtaining.

Best Regards

Kevin

Learnt a lot of my trade as an HGV mechanic on old Ford cargos. Great job

Hi Marcyg, I was brought up with the earlier D series and moved on to cargoes when I drove for Londis, I remember the 6 speed gearbox could be a problem with a few miles on the clock - but compared to the Leyland Clydesdales of the time with its crash gearbox the Fords were a peach.

As always I like to post a picture:-- It would appear that the civil engineers have moved into Leaford Town yard ready for the weekend posession.

Hi Kevin, savour those transfers as the laser printer died yesterday and likely going to have to be replaced with an inkjet so that's my stash of laser paper rendered useless.

Not had much fun with inkjet transfers in comparison as the varnish layer you have to put on never seems to protect them consistently during soaking.
