Hampshire Hog
Yes Paul, I resprayed and weathered them myself, and then sent them to that jolly nice chap Richard Croft of Road and Rails who kindly fitted lights, sound and stay alives to them, and if you add extremely good service too, then you end up with something special which I can thoroughly recommend. See you soon. Kevin.

RMweb Premium Temeraire Posted October 20, 2019 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 20, 2019 (edited) Hi all Just got home from a very successful first outing for Kevin’s new Millway Dock where it was well received and came third place in best layout! 33029 draws a short MoD train onto the dockside. A few minutes later 37278 prepares to leave on a metals service. Later in the day 09012 arranges some more MoD wagons. Thanks Kevin for an enjoyable day and the layout is great but will be even better with the extension and extra FY! Hampshire Hog
"Good to (briefly) catch up and glad our three votes helped!" How many of them were for Functionality Phil? Well I have spent the day so far settling Millway Dock back into its natural environment and it would appear the it has survived its very first exhibition pretty much unscathed (the odd ships handrail come adrift, nothing that a spot of superglue won't put right) and it all still works. I enjoyed myself at the Poole show and I have to thank some people for making it all happen - James and all at the Poole Club for the invite and their hospitality - Ian (Temeraire) for his help with operating and transporting the layout (much beyond the call of duty) - Andy Picton for just passing by and ending up with a Powercab thrust at him - and Jamie for just being Jamie, and all friends both old and new who passed by during the day. Hampshire Hog
Hi Pete, thanks for kind comments and it’s great to hear from you, yes Pete great weekend, there were probably many faces you have known from the past attending the show, including 2 operating Millway Dock below although not shown at their best shot.

Nice pic of the whole layout Kevin. I did wonder how you had done the fiddleyard. Young Andy and Ian at the controls your layout would be in safe hands with those two. I bet you get an invite to Brockenhurst now. Cheers Peter.
Hampshire Hog
Oh yes Brockenhurst already booked, and another Sector Plate fiddle yard has been picked up at the Poole Show ready for installation at other end of layout. Another Sentinal No 8 named after my Grandson “Tiger” rests between duties.
Hampshire Hog
Having been away since the new year and just recovered my land legs I thought I would Just update as to both layouts, Millway Dock has now got both fiddle yards in place and can now be placed back in time to the 60s/70s, please see photos, and after a lot of thought Leaford will have to go , as I have 1 layout in the front room and 1 in the back bedroom, and it would appear my next move will be to the ex Coal Shed. Best regards Kevin. 12
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2020 Sad to see Leaford go but I’m sure other projects will occupy the space eventually. If you need a hand give me a buzz
Melangoose
Shame to hear that you have decided to get rid of Leaford. I hope it goes to a good home, someone who appreciates it.
Beresford Junction
End of an era indeed, I have been priviledged to help out on Leaford on a few occasions, both in situ and on the exhibiton circuit - all great fun and fun times. Thanks Kevin
RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted February 17, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2020 The thread’s just over 10 years old! Where has that time gone? The central section of the layout pre dates that but we’ve enjoyed seeing the rest grow
