Post a Bargain! (no discussions / questions) (was Bargain Hunters)

Recommended Posts

Last night they (themodeller.com) still had most of the pullman coaches that have been on offer for months, but they had started to add one or two items like decoders and track items. Today it has changed considerably with a few more coaches (they did have some more Hawksworths but these seem to have gone now too!), wagons, track items, decoders but no locos as already mentioned by pauln. There are however loads more Skaledale buildings and scenic items than there were last night. Most seem to be at 50% too. Some good bargains if you are after anything from this range.

Thanks guys, that's my daughter's xmas present taken care of - a whole load of Hornby clip together buildings / bridges / stations etc to add to her current oval of track + Thomas.  Best bit is that they are clip together so I can start teaching her some basic modelling :-)

No idea if it's truly a "bargain" or not, as I'm not personally interested in the set (or even individual A4s!!) BUT,

apparently Hornby have been rummaging around in their basement and found "THE LAST EIGHT SETS" of "The Great Goodbye", according to their FACEBOOK post!

On sale on their web site for one penny shy of a thousand quid ---> http://www.Hornby.com/lner-4-6-2-mallard-a4-class-the-great-goodbye.html

Edit: Wasn't sure where else to post this, it "might" be a bargain if eBay offerings are anything to go by - I understand you have to WANT one of course for it to be that way :)

I find my "bargains" in the local charity shops   like Bachmann 47535 fitted with dcc sound, bought for the sum of £30 :senile:

You lucky so and so! I bet that made your day. The only railway stuff I've ever found in charity shops were an assortment of old Hornby wagons in the local Oxfam shop for a larger price than their modern counterparts could be bought for new. I declined on many levels.

I did get a Bachmann BR blue/grey class 411 from a Cash converter in pristine boxed condition for a steal, but that's about it.

Not sure how much of a bargain these are, but Fenwick in Newcastle have a good few Hornby Class 56 Oystermouth reduced to £110. I'm living in the hope if I go back in a few weeks they'll reduce them further.

I passed through Fenwicks today myself and had a quick look.

I wouldn't get your hopes up too much, those reduced loco's haven't changed in months. The only one I couldn't see that must have been sold was the O1, everything else looked much the same as last time I was in there.

I see they had P2's on display though. Nice to finally see it!

The people running the "shop" class model railways as "kids" Toys :scratchhead: so were priced as secondhand worn out toys to them...

It would appear that they were not priced as 'worn out' - normal charity shop practice in my experience. They are no longer the source of bargains they used to be.

Model Fair seems to have some keen prices at the moment. (I refrain from using the word "bargain" when talking about model railway prices nowadays, but they're significantly cheaper than other sellers.)

Bachmann MEAs for less than £10 (Hattons price £12.71), BAAs for around £16 (around £22 at all other retailers), Hornby KFA for under £26. All types of eras and stock available so definitely worth a look
