Recommended Posts

I am having a clear out of Nickel Silver and old stock Brass GWR number plates. Nickel Silver ones are now just 50p per pair and on sale Brass ones are £1 per pair. These cover a lot of locos - 2251, 2301, 5700, 8750, 1400, 4800, 5800, 6400, 7400, 9000 as well as ex Cambrian and other miscellaneous absorbed and non absorbed locos.

See https://www.coastlinemodels.co.uk/bargains-galore-postal-changes/

Shouldn't this be in the Buy & Sell section?

Keith

Dunno & don't care. All I know is it's just given me a shove to order a couple of plates & I got them for a bargain* price, so I'm a happy bunny & thanks and good luck to the proprietor. :good:

Worth mentioning for anyone who has an 'old' Hornby Elite DCC controller hanging around:

Hattons is selling the Hornby PC software RailMaster (which is apparently provided with e-Link too) for £5 only, down from £49.

RailMaster would seem to add new life to Elite-based control (particularly if the PC monitor is touch sensitive), making it far easier to operate locos with multiple DCC sounds, for example.

http://www.hattons.co.uk/36087/Hornby_R8144_RailMaster_PC_Model_Railway_Control_System_on_DVD/StockDetail.aspx

I might pick this up myself at that price!

While only one of the two plates you stock was included in the offer, I still think the usual price of £2 for a set of plates was a bargain as it is. For the sake of adding some paint it's a lot cheaper than usual for GW plates (and the postage was cheap as well.)

Will be putting in an order for a custom batch covering the rest of the non names locos for Brent in due course!

Noticed that Aldi from today are apparently selling 2 A4 or 1 A3 cutting mat for £2.99

There's A4 green ones and girly pink ones! And free postage if you're not near a real shop.

https://www.aldi.co.uk/a4-cutting-mats-2-pack/p/072723090099701

But the A3 ones have sold out online.

Lidl from from Sunday will be doing daylight lamps for £12.99 and storage boxes for £4.99/set.

From Sunday 18th it is DIY special there too.

Aldi also have storage boxes (of a different kind) on offer this week until Sunday.

I bought a couple of the Lidl daylight LED lamps for the workbench today - really well made, good light spread, and easy on the eyes. Recommended !

Regards,

John Isherwood.

They come in a nice White 100W equivalents too.

However they cannot be used in contained ceiling

fixtures because the bases get hot.

Recently replaced the Singer Sewing machine light

- the LED's were mounted in a very soft rubbery

array, that may not survive a build of heat as in an

enclosed ceiling fixture

A bit mystified by this - the original post was about http://www.lidl.co.uk/en/our-offers-2491.htm?action=showDetail&id=37117 ; perhaps you are referring just the the LED arrays?

Hatton's have reduced prices on their pre-owned section.  There are some bargains in there if you're willing to search: http://www.hattons.co.uk/stocklist/PreownedBargains.aspx

Some of the stuff would make the ebay madness thread if on ebay, like http://www.hattons.co.uk/188801/Bachmann_Branchline_32_259_SD_WD_Austerity_2_8_0_90630_loco_tender_in_BR_black_with_late_crest_lightly_weathe/StockDetail.aspx

Why?

He's probably confused because, while very probably accurate, the information you provided was not relevant to the product under discussion.  Yes, the product has an LED bulb in an "enclosed fixture" but it's designed and sold as that, not as an aftermarket LED add-on/enhancement to an existing product.  (I'll admit that that fact might not be immediately obvious, given that the item being discussed no longer appears on Lidl's web site.)

Me too...... even better with a bit of mild diffusion added to them.

Planning on a large period development with pantiled roofs? I have just used a few square inches of a part-used roll of B&Q embossed lining paper to tile a small lineside building. I think I have enough to do the rest of the town and most of the surrounding area and all for less than a quid!

I have had a email update from the new modellers shop that Hornby class 50 ETH detailing pack is back in stock. If you are modelling AC electrics or even the EMUs, this pack includes the MU jumper cable from the class 50 as well as the ETH jumper, so comes in very useful. I haven't had time to check if it is in stock at other Hornby spares suppliers yet.

In the ex Alders store in Croydon, the model shop outlet is now sellling most items remaining  at 50%. This is mainly modelzone stock. Not that much remaining, but various Oxford diecast items, Woodland scenics kits at £8.00, grass mat, paints etc. Also various thicknesses of clear plastic sheet (A4ish). I'm going back with a torch, as the lighting leaves a lot to be desired...

Beales in Bolton will be closing soon. The Hornby stock in there isn't marked down much, and I expect that's because it still technically belongs to Hornby. However, expect a lot of shelf worn older stock to turn up somewhere else in a firesale when they do finally close, as none of it could really be moved on as pristine new stock. Quite apart from the fact that some of it has been sat there for years, such as the class 423s and the first release of the newer model  Eastern region brake vans and Catfish.

You can get things like MU jumpers etc from Replica Railways usually. Or Pheonix from the old MTK/NNK items.
