Model Railways Direct still have a few offers left. Bachmann Class 411 EMU for £64.95 and the Hornby Thomas 'stamp' special editions at non-lunatic prices.

Thanks, grandson wants Percy for his birthday next month - now on the way, and cheaper than the standard version from most sources.

Argos have 'Blue Rapier' coach for a little over £14.  Is this very different from the 'normal' class 395 trailer?  Not my era I'm afriad.

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Search/searchTerms/BLUE+RAPIER.htm

Hornby are selling it at £14:99

http://www.Hornby.com/shop/rolling-stock/passenger-rolling-stock/r4438-railroad-hitachi-class-395-blue-rapier-standard-coach/

It's the stripped down Railroad version of the 395

I've been thinking about the Hornby Olympics 1948 train pack discussed last week.Am I right in saying all Olympic stock must be sold by a certain time. Its just a lot of online retailers are selling them for well over the £100 mark and may be left with them on the shelves.Maybe they will have to follow Model Railways Directs lead to get rid.

Amazon for example http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B004QGUEMS/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new

IIRC Hornby themselves are selling them at about £120-140.

Should we see anymore of the N2 plus teaks sets go below the £100 mark again, I think I'd get the credit card out...can't have too many of those teaks, and the spare N2 chassis will be useful for combining with Andy J's excellent 3D printed N1 kit.

This is the sort of set though that would have done brilliantly if it had been paired with a 3rd brake and a 3rd class Gresley Suburban coach, and priced accordingly, without the Olympic paraphernalia. One of those things, but I'm not complaining as I've done very well out of Hornby's misfortune.

Aldi will be selling a "Table vice/Suction Vice for £6.99 each from Sunday 10th Feb

Here is the link: http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/offers/special_buys3_29108.htm?WT.mc_id=2013-02-08-11-12

HTH

Tony

I bought one of these the last time they had them - the vice section works great but the suction section is poor. Usually find that the suction give up after a couple of minutes, if that.

You would think the design clever approach would be to supply the retailers with new non-olympic packaging for the unsold locos and coaches to put them back into regular stock. They'd lose less like that than having to discount them so heavily to dispose of them

That would require some joined up thinking rather than design clever. ;)
